OMG, an offiicial Rule 63 made by Hasbro!
I’d be inclined to think that at the time the only pegasus or unicorn molds developed were of Twi/Rarity and RD (there wasn’t even a mold for Fluttershy yet), and that the only stallion mold period was Big Mac, in that the Thunderlane/Shining Armor molds for pegasus or unicorn stallion ponies we have today weren’t even made yet. Then they just thought to release the characters as toys anyway for the sake of another character toy, regardless of accuracy.
Their toys are females but they’re male elsewhere. Magnet Bolt’s a fairly common background pony, in fact.
