Vampires take on a more extreme departure from their living counterparts, not only are their coats and entire bodies desaturated in color, their irises turn red, their coat grows longer, and their bodies gain several traits more commonly known by their Bat Pony cousins; including extra fluff on their ears, long fangs, and differently shaped pupils. Vampires’ wings change drastically, they grow extra down on the base of their wings, the colors on their outer feathers become more distinct, and they grow a small claw much like bat ponies have.
Vampires grow much more fur and feathers than living Pegasi, the extra down and fur keeps them warmer longer as vampires have problems with heat retention in their bodies due to unbeating hearts. The fur grows shaggier on their extremities and can require trimming maintenance. Uniquely, vampires grow a few extra feathers above the base of their tail, their purpose is unknown, but vampires are known to be adept fliers, so it may aid in flight.
Vampires require blood to function, any blood is fine, and even zombie blood works, though zombies are extremely rare, and the odds of a vampire meeting a zombie are even rarer. Vampires need this blood, so by nature they are never solitary as they need a steady supply of mortal essence. Vampires can take their perpetual need of blood in many different ways, from simply terrorizing living ponies and biting them when they least expect it, or forming friendships with ponies so they can get blood in more consensual ways.
Vampires are nocturnal as sunlight is damaging to them causing them to burn up, so they can’t go out when it’s out. Naturally, vampires are fond of cloudy or rainy days as this means they can go outside during the day without suffering. Hats and hoods can help mitigate damage from the sun for short periods of time but it isn’t recommended as a long term solution.
Vampires are not known to fade with time and are essentially immortal, provided they can keep up drinking blood. Vampires can eat normal food, but this doesn’t do anything for them nutritionally and is no better than junk food. Raw meat in emergency situations can provide enough drops of blood to sustain them, but isn’t a great idea to do more so than that as their bodies cannot digest meat very well. Despite this, vampires usually end up leading omnivorous lives as there’s no real downsides to eating anything aside from minor intestinal discomfort.
Vampires may have secondary dependencies aside from blood, usually in the form of emotional connections. Vampires are often very brooding and cold when alone, but the comfort of another pony sustaining them in multiple ways opens them up and vampires are well renowned for their loyalty, even after their parter has passed away. If vampires cannot turn their loved one into a vampire with them, they will often let themselves fade away once their lover has passed.
Vampires are more openly sexual than normal ponies or other undead, if single, they may sleep with many ponies, and are usually unconcerned with genders. Their jizz is normal in all senses of the word, but they seem to be sterile.
