The interesting part of C&C was that GDI’s good guy status could be debated. GDI always represented mostly wealthy, 1st world countries who wanted to keep the status quo. Nod saw tiberium as a catalyst for overturning the old order, and tip the scales in favour of the 2nd and 3rd world nations who’d been misled by their leaders and abandoned by those with the means to help them. It’s as if Europe and North America woke up one day and found out they were no longer the undisputed world leaders anymore, and panicked.  
That’s not saying Nod’s deceit and murder is good either. But its followers can easily justify atrocities as paying evil unto evil, and the cavalier manner in which Nod sends them to their demise by reminding themselves that before Nod, they didn’t have any future. And with Nod, they have hope that their communities will at least be better off by their sacrifice. A classic example of post-modernist video gaming.

A real shame though. I’m for GDI as I always gravitate towards factions that are the “good guys” (fight for freedom and peace, strong morals, etc.)  
But it sucks that I dont have a battle cry in response to “In the name of Kane!”

See, this is why so many prefer Nod. GDI has no catchy mottos or mantras, while Nod has lots of them. Peace through power! In the name of Kane! Peace. Unity. Brotherhood.

The ingame icon showed them using the Calico M955. Though in the game only GDI used it, and it was called the GAU-3 Eliminator. Nod was actually using the M-16.  
 

in-game codes says the riflemen using M-16 Minigun

C&C was Awesome adding ponies to it makes it 10x better.
