Because not long after I originally uploaded this ages ago, Merriam-Webster actually added “adorkable” to their dictionary. I just cut-pasted the tags from the older/smaller image.

I believe there actually is a word for that; a portmanteau. My personal favorite portmanteau is “chortle” which combines “chuckle” and “snort”. I’d argue that a lot of ship names (e.g., Sparity or Twilestia) and other tags (e.g., Cutealoo or Scootalove) are portmanteaus also.

That is because it is an amalgamation of a blending of adorable, and dork(y). a(dor(k))able. Thusly, through the insertion of a word into a pre-existing word, you get the amalgamation form of adorkable. The meanings and definitions of the two pre-amalgamated words are then applied to the amalgamation in order to accurately define and explain the meaning of the newly amalgamated word.  
If you can understand Pinkies amalgamation of nervouscited, which is an amalgamation of nervous and excited, nervous(ex)cited, then you should be able to accept other amalgamated words such as adorkable.
