@PonyPon
This. When you have guards running around in plate armor, adding modern guns is somewhat problematic. Note that that’s not the case for older guns; musket balls could be stopped by bulletproof plate armor. Not at the range which the gun is fired at here, of course, that’s far too close.
@AwkwardLuna
Well, I’m not going to invent a new gun for those few pages.
And I got a few comments about people really liking the fact that it is an M1.
All I did was point out a common complaint that people have about guns. And I didn’t want to make the post overly long and point out every possible variation of the complaint. No offense was intended.
@Background Pony #F0B4
Thanks for speaking for me. Not like I could have answered his question myself. Also, you’re wrong.
It’s not the gun itself, especially since you established that this takes place in the future later, but the fact that it’s clearly a M1 Garand makes it stuck our like a sore thumb. Using a real world gun in a completely different setting is jarring.

Oh. Okay. I’m not a big fan of guns in mlp myself. But that’s mostly based on the anatomy of ponies. What I had a problem with is when non unicorns use guns that have no way for them to shoot them. Like human versions, or gryphon I this one.
There are some people that get upset about realistic guns in their fantasy series. Like people that were determined to hate Shadow the Hedgehog from the first teaser trailer because “how dare they have guns in the game?!”
She literally said that she got it from outside of equestria
Ruby Rey did say that Equestria had fallen behind the other countries in technology. She could have gotten the gun from another country.

I prefer science fiction stuffs.
but but steam power! and smokestacks!
No thanks. i’m not really into that genre :p
it’s easy to invent a new gun, just add some gears and brass plating and make it steam powered.

In a society usually bereft of such concepts, yeah.
But I guess this only concerns world-build sticklers.
but a rifle?

I don’t have a problem with it though.
Errrr, how is it silly?
even if she delivers the bits to the orphanage for terminal puppies.
