I want a new pony community...

I’ve reached the end of my rope with /mlp/. They’re constantly bitter, constantly provocative, and there’s no room for productive discussion.
 
How’s it here?

Long story short, this place is this opposite. A lot more welcoming. I’d say it’s one of the better online pony communities. I defiantly prefer this site than the likes of Equestria Daily.

Better. Much better, really. I mean, don’t get me wrong, you will still see some occasional bitterness and arguing, because we all have different opinions and it’s almost impossible to escape that sort of thing completely in any fandom. But there is a lot of discussion here that is equally celebratory and positive and fun, and I’m sure if you poke around a bit you can find exactly the sort of topics and conversations that suit your interests. Also, I’ll freely admit that I love productive discussions, so it’s always nice to see more people interested in that sort of thing.

That seems a little harsh. I’m over there a lot, and aside from the actions of a select few individuals, I don’t think there’s as much difference that community and this one as people seem to think.

EQD seems like it’d be okay but it looks dead.

EQD’s format is different, it’s more known for the comment sections, not it’s forums which are a relatively recent addition I’m not too sure took off. By nature commenting is much more reactive and volatile, subject pops up, you talk about it, and then move on. That means you don’t get much opportunity to have a discussion since it’ll just die off within a week at most, and a lot more incentive to just throw fuel into the fire and heat up the arguments.
 
In comparison Derpi’s mainly a forum, you see subjects, you find one you like and talk about it. Heck, you can even restart a thread that’s been inactive for a while as opposed to making new ones and flood the place. I find it best to compare EQD’s comment section to Derpi’s, which… well. Yeah….

Derpibooru is an image archive that just happens to have a forum, image comments are the main thing after images, so it’s the same as EqD in that regard…

Unless you discover a means of traveling to a parallel universe where you can indeed find a different pony community, but other than that, I think you’re shit out of luck. This may not be /mlp/, but it’s a more passive aggressive community for sure.

4Chan tends to be that way. A good majority of it is filled with bitter edgelords who constantly fight with each other.
 
I’m still rather new here but based on what I have seen from here (from both my few days on here as well as lurking in the past), this is a pretty nice place.
 
r/mylittlepony is a nice place too. There’s less discussion there due to the amount of fanart that comes in but it’s still a friendly community and people still do discuss the show there as well.

I think it’s alright! I think the most productive discussions happen in the forums, rather than comments on uploaded images. I think as long as one is mindful of the rules, you’ll be alright.
