Hey, Roman’s getting cheered, and even Starlight’s biggest haters have admitted she wasn’t that bad in Season 7. Both of them just needed some time to find their feet.

Well it’s not like there aren’t some episodes of the show I’ve totally erased from my personal canon. Not to mention Dragon Town has NEVER been mentioned again, so it’s really easy to do the same.
 
If there’s one good thing about the general lack of hard continuity in the show and comics, it’s that it’s really easy to ignore all the stupid shit.

That was what, 10-15 years in the past? All that stuff was probably already there in the show’s contiuity too, technological progress doesn’t blast along like an atomic powered rocket car in a nation that’s existed in more or less its current form for like 3000 years.
 
Twilight being this involved with their relationship just makes the beginning of Canterlot Wedding even more nonsensical than it already was  
If Princessa Mi Amore Cadenza is cadance’s formal royal name, only used in conjunction with royal events, how likely was Filly!Twi to have ever heard that before in the context of her babysitter?

Yyyup. It’s not my favorite AJ Ep, but it never really deserved the trashtalkin’ it got, especially since if anypony is gonna be far down a hole of pointless traditionalism…
 
I think it mostly suffered under the same yoke as a lot of episodes in Season 6, that the influx of new writers turned in a lot of episodes that were good enough on their own, but would have fit much better in the first three seasons when these horses were still actually learning Friendship Lessons.

As I recall he wasn’t trying to “shield against criticism”, he was directly answering some shitbird who accused him of being racist because he wrote a story about race relations they disliked. It was on par with Badumsquish pointing out the fairly obvious reason why it’s probably not “racist” for him to only ever draw a White OC in his Human-on-Pony art.

If this was anytime before the late 90s I would believe it. But in today’s world I don’t think there is such a thing; it’s all self-imposed and illusionary to the point it’s oxymoronic, ironic or whichever the word might be. I’m not a literary guy. I’m not elaborating further.
 
Although it amuses me when people bring those issues to pone. Like for example pegasi being self-conscious of wingspan or wingpower (the latter which is basically a point of Hurricane Fluttershy).
