Not terrible, but an extreme disappointment for me.
Weirdly, few express this opinion yet few disagree with it either.

A lot of the original concepts ARE why I am pissed.
The original concept for Klugetown, the depiction of Cosmos, the mushroom forest, the more insane design for Capper, the awesome planned climaxes, ALL of these things would have made the film spectacular and definitely something to remember. What we have instead is something that is extremely safe and incredibly basic to the point that at times it is boring, which makes me wonder what is the point of this amazing animation and voice acting if it is being used with dull sets and cookie-cutter musical numbers.
Meanwhile you have Cartoon Saloon and StudioMDHR that are doing extremely worthwhile things with 2D animation, why SHOULDN’T Hasbro do the same. They have more money than either of these studios so they clearly could.
And even outside of this we still have Nintendo trying to revolutionize Mario and Zelda, and people reward them because THEY are trying to make something that has ambition, they care about their works being high quality, they won’t just let brands speak for themselves. Hmm maybe that’s why people will pay huge prices for their products and will wait in ridiculously long lines to do so.
How about instead of trying to reward Hasbro for at least giving us something, we only reward them when they actually make something amazing.
