Single tag alone only had 39.51% votes for it. Not really anywhere close to close. Since if you consider that anyone what voted for “Hippogriffs like Cirrus should be separated out to their own tag, leaving the G4 and classical ones intact.” would have probably went with “Both varieties of Hippogriff should reside under the hippogriff tag, with separate subtags denoting which variety” if their option lost.
 
 
Winner takes all vs choice voting, you can safely count the first place and thirdplace together to be 60% of the votes

Vote propotion does not matter. More is more.
 
Also, if you wanted to argue vote proportion, a more valid argument would be that option 2 (only one tag) is included in option 1 (one tag plus two subtags) because people who picked 2 don’t have to add or use these two subtags.

Option 1 does include the destinction between them though (in subtags) which does mean that they have to be seperated which also includes option 3 in it’s core essence.
 
Option 3 is to be counted on the total AGAINST keeping them under one tag only.

You are correct, we can not assume intent behind people’s votes. I would be willing to wager that if it was a choice vote/Instant-runoff voting poll, most people that chose option 3 would of had option 1 as their secondary.
 
 
But either way, for the poll it was, “Both varieties of Hippogriff should reside under the hippogriff tag, with separate subtags denoting which variety.” did win. And I do not see why having more tags (which would contain 100+ images) is a bad thing.

Given that the context, @Barhandar was with regards to them having not been separated in the first place, really, option 2 is null, while options 1 and 3 are not null.

Options 1 and 3 (and obviously 2 with 3) are mutually exclusive - you can’t have full separation and an unifying tag at the same time. Options 1 and 2 are not mutually exclusive.
 

 
Isn’t that part of what I’m saying? Let me rephrase: “Tag plus two subtags being picked excludes using two entirely separate tags; but automatically includes using one tag for both (not vice versa).” That means with subtags option winning the vote is 97+81 against 26.
 
Also, who’s continuing to vote? #1 is now at 99.

Having a common tag and a pair of subtags is both the option that won the poll, and the option that logically makes the most sense - more information content and more ability to distinguish between different things is always better in a tagging system.
 
And as for the people who keep voting, I guess it is people who happen upon this thread for the first time and just click the poll link.

I appologize. It is early for me and I have yet to sleep but it IS a seperation. You could say option 1 is the best of both worlds. Seperation in subculture and unification in mainframe.
 
Also can’T answer the question regarding the votes. Maybe some people who noticed this thing chipped in? I unno. It does show though that people are more interested in getting subtags on this.

I’d rather the subtags stay since it seemed like it could have been a decent compromise. But if everything gets merged, while I’d be disappointed, I’ll respect the choice the mods made. (Can’t get everything you want, you know. C’est la vie. Regardless of the outcome, I just want this to just blow over like it never happened so we can just move on.)

I don’t see why this is going on. Both polls were dumb to do, because when we did the second one, Gyro tried to pull “this vote also technically counts for this vote too, meaning we add it” when he was first losing that vote. I simply don’t care anymore, there was never a problem before, even with other races, of you wanted a specific ref, you commonly looked up an OC that followed that style you want to ref. “This is what we agreed on originally reeee” no, we were forced into deciding cuz someone got permission from one mod, and mass tagged with a bot, of which he should’ve been told not to do again, and the mod not to make that decision again, not this “okay, you dun did a wrong, but let’s give you what you want” Jesus fuck. This wouldn’t of even happened, if someone went and proposed it in the beginning,not just get one person’s opinion, and mass tagged. Want a hippogriff ref of mlp Hippogriff? Look up the canon characters. You want a fanon Hippogriff? Look up the OC. If I search creampie, and I get anal and vaginal but only want one, I’m going to go back to the search bar and add the specific hole I want, not come to the forums and go on about wanting separate tags.

This is why we want seperated SUBTAGS to be able to make our search specific! If there is only one tag saying “Hippogryph” keeping EVERY HORSE HYBRID in it… we won’T be able to add any specific thing to it.

Yes, he did opine that the votes for total separation ought to count with votes for subtags, that means nothing to this discussion since the subtags option won anyway.
 
Nobody was just given what they wanted; there was a discussion, with arguments and opinions from both sides, and a compromise was reached. One that didn’t actually affect fandom style hippogriffs at all, since the mods decided only to implement a subtag for canon/classical ones.
 
This isn’t just about being able to look up refs. What if someone wants to just see all the images involving fandom style hippogriffs? Or canon style ones? There’s a reason we have a subtag for classical unicorns. Also RE creampies, there is in fact an anal creampie tag.

Dude anyone with half an idea of how a VPN works would be able to create an ungodly amount of fake votes, and that’s not even counting the number of online proxies. Anyone could’ve easily messed with the votes for either side, so I’d use the polls more as a learning tool for everyone to realize that they’re not effective at all for this sort of thing.
 
And no, I didn’t mess with the polls either. It would’ve been extremely easy to, but it’d also be unethical and I honestly just don’t give a shit enough about the change to do something like that. =V

I also like to point out that now that Joey has spoken his decision it has gotten everyone all riled up again, there are equal amount of people that favor each side so this’ll go on forever, whatever Joey decides at least he can choose to keep the fanon and classical tags or combine them Its up to him

@Ganix I know how IP changing works as well. Sadly the poll is not MAC-Adress protected but that’s how things go. And even then… people could’ve voted two to three times depending on the amount of phones and PCs at their disposal.

In that case are we removing all more specific sub tags? Such as classical unicorn?

I’m not too tech savvy so I don’t know how to do that sort of thing in regards to changing IP addresses. But even if I did know how to do it, I wouldn’t have done it because doing that to sway the votes since that’s a rather scummy thing to do.

Let’s just make every equine character “Pony” and that’s it! Best solution for everything and easy tagging. No more useless “Alicorn”, “Unicorn”, “Pegasus” or “Earthpony” Tag. Not like the seperation has to happen there.
