Also, Shiny Pokémon encounters are doubled in Generation VI onward; meaning that, starting with X & Y, the chance of randomly encountering a Shiny Pokémon is now 1 in 4096 (3 in 4096, or 1 in 1365 with the Shiny Charm). Eggs produced by international marriage will now have a 6 in 4096, or 1 in 683, chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon (With the Shiny Charm, this chance increases to 8 in 4096, or 1 in 512).

At least in Sun and Moon, you can get the Shiny Charm by registering all 300 Pokémon in Alola’s Pokédex (excluding Mythical Pokémon and those found using Island Scan).

Without event Legendaries, The pokedex requires that you catch 706 of the little buggers. (707 in ORAS because Deoxys got demoted to a regular legendary in those games.)
‘only’ I believe 706 when you exclude the event-exclusives. As far as the professors care you’re ‘dex is complete. (I have 708, got the celebi from the pokebank thing, and phione are easy to get since they’re breedable. When I’m bored I hatch a few and wonder trade them to beef up my trainer ID pool for the lottery)
