Description

Cue Emergency Alert System tones

The Cloudsdale Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Canterlot and surrounding communities until 6:45 PM Equestrian Daylight Time.

At 2:15 PM Equestrian Daylight Time, Doppler radar and Pegasus storm spotters were tracking a large, and extremely dangerous, tornado near Ponyville. Doppler radar showed this tornado moving northeast at 25 MPH.

This is a Tornado Emergency for Canterlot and surrounding communities.

In addition to the tornado, large tennis ball sized hail, strong winds, and deadly lightning are expected with this storm.

Locations impacted include Ponyville, Canterlot, the Royal Guard military base, and additional locations within the next hour.

This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. If you cannot get underground, get into a storm shelter or interior room of a sturdy building now.

Take cover now in a storm shelter or interior room of a sturdy building. Stay away from doors and windows.

Cue Emergency Alert System end tones

As the tornado sirens wail across Canterlot, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Twilight take cover in the royal castle underground bunker with a weather radio, and brace for the inevitable as they can only pray that the monster does not cause any of their citizens or friends caught in the path of it to pay the ultimate price as it ravages the landscape above…

Trust me, I’ve seen the carnage of the 1999 and 2013 Moore, Oklahoma F5 tornadoes. I know what I’m talking about.

Yeah, I’ve seen the footage of those tornadoes on The Weather Channel or the series Storm Chasers with Reed Timmer from TornadoVideos.net, IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey, and Dr. Joshua Wurman from the Center for Severe Weather Research. The carnage those tornadoes leave behind makes one believe you’ve walked right into a war zone where your neighborhood used to be, and the possibility of finding people injured or even deceased weighs heavily on your heart.

I know in situations like this the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center would issue a PDS watch. PDS is short for Particularly Dangerous Situation, where the probability of tornadoes is maxed out. Scenes like this not only remind me of the two twisters that hit Moore, Oklahoma, but also the tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Alabama in 2011, Yazoo City, Mississippi in 2010 and Greensburg, Kansas in 2007.

And you can hear it roaring and howling as it tears along the ground. Though as for Canterlot, since it’s on a mountainside, it would be vulnerable to the debris the tornado is chucking out like missiles as it tears across the ground in the valley below.
