I’m curious, why didn’t applebloom, scootaloo and sweetie belle didn’t go to camp everfree? they’re the same age as snips and snails.

For what’s it worth, I wouldn’t rate this movie very strong on the plot alone.  
What made ig enjoyable was all of the character interaction.  
And to be honest if they did squeeze in the CMC, they probably would have just been background characters with no lines.

I hope the Shadowbolts would be the protagonists in next movie, they should learn by themselves the true sense of friendship. And help the Dazzlings to defeat something more powerful than they was.

Seems pretty straightforward. If they were there, it would be really weird if Diamond Tiara wasn’t there. And if Diamond Tiara was there, the whole Filthy Rich storyline would just be seriously awkward. It would take over the plot.

The movies have never been exactly human-filly-heavy, for some reason. Maybe the writers think it would be too much to add them into a story that already has more than it needs. But I think I can replicate the CMCs at camp experience for you, if your minds will provide the voices.  
(Snips and Snails do something dumb. The CMCs roll their eyes.)  
Sweetie Belle: Rarity, help! I stepped in poison sumac and Apple Bloom is covered in upset opossums and Scootaloo raced a bear who’s a sore loser and maybe Babs is here and having a bad time, also!!  
Rarity: (chuckle) Why yes, Sweetie Belle, it will runway runway fashion show fashion runway clothing!  
“Wooow, those superpowers are so cool/amazing/awesome!”

And they’re not even more “kids” than the mane 6 are, there. They’re high-schoolers, too. I don’t know why people automatically think “10 year olds” whenever they see the CMC.

Yep, they spoke a little bit in the library in the first movie, and Applebloom had a line in Rainbow Rocks.

And not forgetting the Dazzlings. What happened to them after the Battle of the Bands still remains a mystery.
 
But there might be hope for them (Shadowbolts and Dazzlings) to appear in the next movie.

For reference, they didn’t get one frame in the movie. If they did, I would have seen it, since they’re in my watchlist. Strangely, though, Snips and Snails are too. I wonder if use of the EQG CMC is contractually prohibited or something…

Later that very same bee, they see on the news that Camp Everfree was engulfed in branches, thorns and magical struggle. After that, they were less disappointed they couldn’t go.
