It’s obvious that Hasbro refused to show hints of foal shippings (with an exception of TenderBloom). This shows political correctness is 50/50 since they were once too chicken to ship LyraBon until it was hinted in that one episode where Big Mac broke up with Sugar Belle. Then the show “officially” decided to “come out of the closet” on Season 9 when they first introduced Scootaloo’s aunts in the show…and a large majority of the fandom decided that AppleDash became canon.
While Rumble interacted with the CMC’s I the episode…love interests was never mention or implied in that episode (except when he and Sweetie Belle acted tsundere each other)
As for the political correctness being 50/50 in the show (Unisex Locker Room, not allowing males go with females in the spa at the same time, ponies not wearing clothes most of the time, etc.)

…Huh?
Rumble: Come on, Sunset! It’s not he’s some sort of spider-themed supervillain with a split personality or anything!
Sunset Shimmer: That was oddly specific of you.
Rumble: That’s how I roll.
