Also when Starlight was casting the spell she was panicking and looked mortified immediately afterwords. She has already said her emotions control how her magic works so I feel this was more like a squid spraying when it’s scared then Star trying to make a quick solution.

Mh. you’re too worked up. the reason why she had nightmares was because she learned some lessons from her past experience. Season 6 Starlight would have slept soundly in full confidence that her method was flawless, Season 7 Starlight doubted her more extreme methods.  
Also power does not equal invulnerability. Starlight in Season 5 took Twilight’s CM. Twilight was already a very powerful pony–much more than Starlight.  
Starlight specializes in CM magic, so if there was anyone who can swap the princesses’ CMs it would most likely be her, besides, the princesses were caught totally off guard, because they were occupied and don’t normally expect anyone to cast a CM magic on them.  
You know, I bet even Sombra and Starswirl The Bearded can cast magic on the princesses.

The two Princesses look out of place with switched cutie marks. Also, why did Starlight even need to do this again? Didn’t she learn anything from Every Little Thing She Does, for example? It also annoys the hell out of me that she’s more powerful than two alicorn princesses, the ones who control the sun and the moon, it in a way breaks the lore of the Two Princesses! Why?
