You can call it whatever you want.
You’re totally right. I don’t give anything about the “Empire” thing at all, but I just want to seperate the old kingdom under Chrysalis from the new empire under Thorax. We will see if it was just sloppy writing or if the show will use this new name regularly.
The difference between these two aren’t just the name of the realm but also the prospering of the land and soil around the hive. Pre-Thorax era was desolated and ruined. Now the changelings can make progress for their own and with friendship even more.
Just my headcanon. No offense!
I caught that too, might be some kind of slip up on the writer’s part.
Course the terms may not matter and just get used interchangeably in MLP. The Crystal “Empire” after all is a single city, not an empire.
Wasn’t they called the Changeling Kingdom under Queen Chrysalis?
That’s the reason why the tribes crowned the sisters. They needed a symbol - something what unites them. I think Equestria wouldn’t prosper if the pony tribes weren’t united. They work together to reach their common goals. This is the reason why Equestria now needs friendship. To make ties to the other species. Even if they’re some kind of dangerous or not thrustworthy. But like humans there will be some ponies who won’t agree with that. They rather accept and keep their status quo. Ignoring the fact that there would be even greater harm if the other species would be left out of the progress. Maybe even war? I don’t know but I love the show just for the reason that it gives me something to think about it. So, now I have to go… I need to check out when the School building will be released on my local toy store. Friendship is money. Damm you, Hasbro! ;-D

Indeed, the real issue is he isn’t simply talking about ponies being more prosperous, but rather believes other species cannot be trusted, are dangerous, could destroy that prosperity, etc. Its true the other species do have potentially dangerous abilities, and the way they live can be very different and this could cause issues, but as Celestia noted that is true of the different pony races as well, especially in the past.

So why is this?
As far as we know, Equestria seems to be one of few nations in the FiM world that actually flourish and prosper. It has rich soil, weather control, magic, economy, technolgy, scholarship, libraries, and so on. Comparing with other species in the show, ponies could be quite the dominating power in the FiM world. Actually it’s only because of the kindhearted/passive nature of Celestia and many other ponies Equestria doesn’t grow into a global superpower.
My point is this: Is Chancellor Neighsay wrong about what he says? No. He’s not. As far as we know, the FiM world has quite dangerous places (Everfree Forest) and aggressive creatures (like the Hydra or the Cockatrice) in it. The other countries doesn’t seems to make the same or any kind of progress like Equestria. Griffonstone stagnates. The Changeling Empire is relative new and Seaquestria isolated itself. So thinking about it, Neighsays specism makes some kind of sense to me.
Ponies first.

That was desperation exacerbated by multiple failures on the part of her friends to take the situation seriously (just look at their shamed reactions when she points out the things they had done), plus being exposed to the same sorts of things in the outside world that turned Tempest into such a twisted pony.
And a spark from a horn brought about by an angry outburst is not a “almost blast one of her friends heads off” moment. Twilight has more control over her magic than that. At most it was another parallel to Tempest, as her horn also sparked more when she got angry.
Note, none of the above is excusing what Twilight did, it remains one of the lowest points for her, but its supposed to be. Failures alone don’t mean one doesn’t deserve to be a princess, Luna being the biggest example of that.
@Bexar Bandito
I’m imagining Celestia promoting to some position where he can’t cause international incidents.
Eh?
“Celestia was doing experiments with human DNA. THAT’S why these shitty Ponies exist, and even then, they’re never TRULY Evil barring instances of Dark Magic!”
… No seriously, that was the justification given in an actual fanfiction.
You underestimate the misanthropes in the fandom.
How about when push comes to shove she’d rob from another kingdom then almost blast one of her friend’s heads off when she’s called out on it? That can possibly be a reason she wouldn’t be a princess.

Dare I ask why you think she doesn’t deserve to be a princess? She was Celestia’s most prized student, groomed to become an alicorn, chosen of the Tree of Harmony, leader of the Mane 6, and her accomplishments speak for themselves.
And how is it a deus ex machina solution? Its more a loophole than anything else. The EEA covers all of Equestria’s schools, but that was because every school was one that could function under its guidelines, helping ponies learn spells, agriculture, weather manipulation, etc. Twilight’s school is unique, it isn’t just for ponies and so the rules for it have to be different. Those rules did not exist, but Twilight had the authority to make them. Its not like she forced the school to be accredited, she just found a way around it where it could still have some legitimacy.

Does that mean the misanthropes in the fandom can finally shut up about how ponies are supposedly superior to humans?
Even more interesting is when you consider that Chancellor Neighsayer is a pony in a position of great authority in Equestria. He wouldn’t be there if his pony supremacist views weren’t at least mainstream, if not popular, among ponies. Equestria isn’t necessarily the happy, friendly land it looks like on the surface.
She still doesn’t fucking deserve it. Deus Ex Machina solutions like this are why making Twilight an alicorn princess in the first place was a bad idea.

Just my opinion.
She’s Paul von Hindenburg! ;-D
We need a bit more info on the government. Like, was he appointed by Celestia, by an elected council, what?
As far as we know he didn’t break any rules or overreach his authority. And I don’t think Celestia considers the government ponies her employees, or at least isn’t eager to treat them as such.

He’s a direct employee though? Unless he was elected, she should be well within her rights to terminate his employment at her discretion.
