Luna suffered not being loved as much as Celestia was in the show but in real life, its the opposite.
 
And now I just imagine Nightmare Moon sort of gloating but only stops mid-way and just hugs Celestia due to the pain Celestia is feeling is too much like hers, NMM just can’t bring herself to enjoy seeing others suffer the same kind of pain she/Luna suffered through.

I don’t get why people think she is overrated. In comparison to her sister her fanbase is much much smaller.

I think it started when a few people wanted to be different and said they preferred Luna. Nothing wrong with that.  
And before we knew it, Luna’s fanbase had tripled. The amount of Celestia fans seems extremely small since.

Makes me wonder if this is the other side of classism. Hardly anypony think they are worthy of her highness’ attention. There’s a reason they say it’s lonely at the top.
 
Hm… Makes me wonder if the idea of an episode where Princess Celestia “disappears” or is for one reason or another unable to do her duty so that princess Luna holds her place. Meanwhile giving herself the appearance of a common white-coated, pink-maned unicorn to get a taste of life as an equal.
 
Then again… I’m sure somepony must’ve written a fanfic about that by now.

after a year of watching the show and almost as long being a part of the fandom, I’ve come to the solid objective conclusion that Celestia is best pony.
