I guess I’m not really familiar with this Rina-chan person’s work, I should probably check that out.
nothing but your own word
Well, that and “paying attention”; it was different in the immediate aftermath, but since Rina-chan’s videos got popular there just isn’t nearly as much talk about preferring the original. You’re right, though; the onscreen replacement voice was completely generic and uninspired.
cop-out
Yes, they call each other by name all the time… and like I said, it often sounds forced and unnatural.
You’re confusing my comment about them being unlikely to ever call her by name again in the show moving forward for advocacy of that, but no, that’s not something I agree with; it’s just what I expect to (not) happen. I don’t own Season 2 on DVD, because I refuse to support the bowdlerized version of Last Roundup and all the original pressings of the Friendship Express collection that had the original are long gone by now.
Whatever. Her modified voice sucked and was far less distinctive. Her original style needed a little polish, but not a complete do-over. The alterations sucked the charm right out of that scene. You say “almost everyone”, but you’ve got nothing but your own word to back that up.
As for her name, that’s all a cop-out. They refer to each other by name all the time in the show, and the moments where Derpy’s name should have been spoken were noticeable.
Her original voice was a mistake. Almost everyone these days agrees that one of the various fan singers who’ve done Derpy songs would be a better voice for her. If all they had done was go back and give her a different voice, not many fans would have gotten all that upset.
They probably won’t ever call her by name onscreen again, but that’s honestly not really much of a loss; we all know who she is, and a huuuge percentage of spoken names in cartoons and comics come across as forced and unnatural anyway, because most people just do not call their friends and associates by name unless they’re trying to get their attention.
Well. That’d be nice and all, but she wouldn’t have anything close to her old voice, and I doubt they’ll ever give her name back.
And you had to revive it, you necroposter.
Whedon
I keep forgetting to look up what that particular teapot tempest is about; I still remember when he was talking about Firefly and how old Westerns always had Apaches as the Terrifying Inhuman Other but he wasn’t going to do that in a Space Western, so he came up with the Reavers as the monstrous inhuman menace, and some people managed to turn that into “Joss Whedon thinks Native Americans are monsters” even though he pretty clearly meant that he wanted to do something that wouldn’t be racist like that.
…You off yo’ meds ‘bout Tha Joss, though, Holmes; that precious li’l doughboy write some crazy good dialogue.
@kassarc16
usually men
Uh… ‘cuz it’s usually men?
You know, your arguing style is just really fucking weird.
Feel free to point out what evidence I ignored when you come back, because as far as I can tell you haven’t provided any.
/done
Bye.
Oh, if only the show had a filter.
If you hate derpy and her fans then fucking filter “derpy hooves”.
I’m not saying it again.
Oh. So we’re supposed to believe you and only you? And any kind of real evidence be damned? God you cultists are stupid.
Much hay-raising by sjws was done over Whedon’s peeny/balls comment and I was like “He delivered it like a ten year old but he’s right you know” (actually I somewhat misunderstood the context myself since I don’t follow him as I think he’s an overblown pretentious twat whose last good original story was probably a gradeschool writing assignment, apparently he’s got a history of nonchalant passive-aggressive tranny bashing, but I figured that as a leftist he would have meant his comment to be a comedically sad statement on US culture in general) so there were a lot of replies bitching at me going all ‘oh figures these far right lunatics would agree with his statement nice going Joss!’ and then I clarified it with there can’t be a trans woman as a strong female character since westerners will always accredit her strength to her male side.
Many surprised looks and oh heeeeell naws later I got that pic tweeted at me.
(That was legit how I thought he had meant it, but apparently whedon’s views on the T are notoriously infantile so I got some tweets akin to ‘Can’t believe some violent far-right kook is more progressive than one of my idols!’)
Yepp. That’s the typical response when you get proven wrong by objective facts. Keep going.
