Rarity’s fancier’s traits were staples in at least a dozen ponies in all generations. Rarity is just… interesting.
Who’s to say they won’t get some G1 traits?
Though Rarity is a bit of a G3 Rainbow Dash from time to time.
But their personalities were based on G1 ponies.

Got to agree with you there. It raised too many questions that were left unanswered by the episode. For me it didn’t explore spike as a character as much as it gave us some more world building for dragons. Sure it was fun, but I think Dragon Quest explored Spike as a character better.
Oh. Well don’t get me wrong, I definitely enjoyed it, I just don’t agree that it’s one of the best.
I’ve always heard it described as one of the series’ best…
Why? I’ve never heard the general consensus on this episode, so why is my opinion unique?

Secret of my Excess wasn’t great IMO, but nowhere near bad. It was fun, and probably the best Spike episode so far. But I don’t think it’s great.
