After playing Paper Jam, no cameo or even mention of Geno is found. Ironically, paper luigi doesn’t show up either.

At this point, I’d gladly welcome an HD-remake of “SMRPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.”
 
Would be funny if there was an unexpected SMRPG reference, or character that appears in “Paper Jam.” After all, if it wasn’t for SMRPG, there’s be no “Paper Mario,” or “Mario & Luigi” series.  
Maybe the Geno doll/puppet will appear again.

Other than the plot the interaction between the characters is what’s really gonna matter more. So far we’ve seen Paper Toads spread all around the area (I hope other minior Paper characters make a appearances). It should be painfully obvious that with this crossover the fans are demanding to have references, lots and lots of references from both sides of respective universe. There should be no reason to hold back.
 
I can’t say much about Nintendo and Square when it comes to SMRPG. As much as I like to see a remake port for the 3DS or the Nintendo NX…I don’t know. Maybe they will pull a unexpected surprise like Square and Sony did with the remaster HD of FF7 a majority of the fans has been demanding for years.

Don’t forget about Capcom’s Mega Man. A lot of people believe that Nintendo should buy the rights of the Mega Man franchise out of Capcom’s hands since they pretty much stop caring for him.  

 
Yeah, cuz you know….they’re dead! Same for Dimentio, Fawful, Princess Shroob and her older sister Elder Princess Shroob along with the entire Shroob species, and Antasma.

I don’t know, Nintendo doesn’t seem to care much for the SMRPG characters either. (Aside from the Geno cameo I mentioned.) So I doubt they’ll bother buying them off.
 
They rarely seem to use any characters they didn’t create, aside from the DK Rare characters, (like Diddy Kong, though K. Rool, the Kremlings and such seem to be history now… It was Nintendo’s idea to get rid of all the classic DKC enemies like the Gnawty beavers, Zingers, Necky vultures, and Kremlings) and Star Fox Adventure’s Krystal. (And perhaps Waluigi, seeing as he was kinda invented by some guys from the company “Camalot” whom developer Mario Tennis N64, but even he just makes cameos now.)

At this point. My brother and I both agreed that Nintendo should buy the rights to what Square owns on Super Mario RPG since we all know that Square isn’t going to do jack shit with it. Nintendo wants to do more things with the RPG universe, but they cannot since Square’s keeping it locked away from the public. We know that Geno isn’t cloud, but he’s more loved for as a character than that Spike haired emo and that spikey haired key blade barring pussy that Sora is.
 
Only thing is, who’s the gonna be the bad guy in Paper Jam? Its not like Shadow Queen or Crackaletta is gonna return.

Sense the first true SMRPG game came out in 1996, I’ve lost all hope of Nintendo & Square/Enix ever teaming up again to make a new SMRPG sequel. It’s just going to be the “Paper Mario,” and “M&L” RPG games from now on.
 
Heck, Square/Enix actually teamed up with Nintendo to make 2 Mario sports titles, (“Mario Hoops 3 on 3,” and the Wii title “Mario Sports Mix”) yet didn’t even include Geno, Mallow, or any SMRPG characters in a cameo.  
I’m beginning to think Nintendo & Square/Enix are trying to pretend SMRPG doesn’t exist… (Only references I recall to it are Geno’s brief cameo, and the theme of Mario’s house in “M&L: Superstar Saga,” and “Fortune Street” using the “Mushroom Kingdom town” music. Perhaps Peach’s frying pan attack in the SSB series, but that could be a reference to Game & Watch Gallery 2 & 4’s “Chef” game instead for all we know.)
 
PS: Yes, I’m aware that Paper Mario (N64) was originally titled “Super Mario RPG 2” years before it’s release. Still, that game barely had anything to do with SMRPG, despite having some story similarities. (And a similar ending sequence.)

Even if they go with that cliche’ plot, it’s possible the story & dialogue could still turn out entertaining regardless. Plus, we haven’t really had a Mario game that was a crossover between 2 Mario universes, (ala “Turtles Forever” or “Sonic Generations”) and it would be kinda interesting to see how the 2 different Bowsers interact.

My brother is looking forward to Paper Jam. Although, we both wish that a proper Paper Mario game will be a reality along with Super mario rpg 2.

It’s mainly due with how the Paper Mario side is going to be portrayed and the premise of the game’s story as a whole. I really hope Paper Jam dont end up going with the generic team-up between Bowser and his paper counterpart to rule over the kingdom and Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario have to work together and save the day. The whole concept itself is very predictable and uninteresting and I hope that’s not the direction Alpha Team is going with.

From what I hear, only the song title was in the Brawl game’s files, not the actual song. Still, the song was titled “Beware the Forest Mushrooms,” which is the title of the “Forest Maze” according to the official “Super Mario RPG” soundtrack.
 
Though, they might’ve considered just using the song, considering Yoko Shimomura (the music composer for SMRPG) contributed to Brawl’s soundtrack. (And SSB4.)

Yeah, Sonic & Megaman were both very popular choices, (despite the Sonic-haters who whined about him getting in) which is why they got in. Geno might be to obscure, which might be another reason he wasn’t included. (Then again, some SSB characters are quite obscure, if you haven’t brushed up on your Nintendo history.)
 
Personally, when I first heard Namco was helping develop SSB4 for WiiU & 3DS, I knew right then they had to put Pac Man in. Some actually thought I was crazy for thinking he had a chance to get in. :P

Maybe Shantae (from the Shantae series by WayForward) will have a better shot. I saw some support from people who wanted her in Smash 4. I can second that vote.

Nintendo even tried to put Geno in Brawl(even Jarkes mentions that geno had the third most requests to get in). There’s even a song based off of the forest maze stage from Mario RPG from one of the unused music files from Brawl. Geno didn’t make the cut since a square executive admitted into pulling the plug on that one.

Not to mention that when Brawl had the fans voting for characters to be included, Geno actually had the third-most votes, but only Sonic got put in because he was at the very top. Don’t remember who was in 2nd place for that one…

If that’s the case than Square is being a real jerkass. A lot of people like Geno, heck even I like Geno. I even voted for him to be in Smash 4 in that ballot on the SSB website. They should be more considerate of their fan’s wants not what they want to give the fans.

My brother compared Nintendo and Geno with Roger rabbit and touchstone. Disney may own Roger, but its Touchstone AND Steven Spielberg they gotta get the approval from if they want to do anything with Roger. The same case happens here.
 
Nintendo may have somewhat own Super Mario RPG, but Square owns what they created for the game. Which is mostly the original content from Super Mario RPG. Nintendo has to get the approval from Square to do anything with Geno and anything Super Mario RPG related that was created from Square. Nintendo seems to be wanting Geno to make a comeback, but Square on the other hand doesn’t want that to happen. Since he’s not Final Fantasy related or a spike haired kid with a Key for a weapon.

I never noticed the “Blooper/Bloober” thing before, but yeah I remember the Ostro/Birdo confusion.
 
Rumor has it the name “Koopa” being given to the “turtle race” in the Mario series was due to a translation error to. (As in Japan, Bowser is named “Koopa,” but none of his subjects are refered to by that.)
