Well, not all “genwunners” are bad, but I’ve seen ones in other fandoms to just as bad. Like some TMNT fans who only appreciate the old campier cartoon, or G1/G3 MLP-fans who like to bash the G4 show, and such. There was even a guy on DA who complained about Link (Legend of Zelda) being blonde nowadays, and such…
 
Yeah, it would’ve been nicer if “Heroes” at least changed up the layouts of the levels more for each team, perhaps taking advantage of their abilities. As for “Black Doom,” I didn’t think he was that bad a villain. I kinda liked how he was a bit darker then other Sonic villains, (making him a better enemy for Shadow, or “mentor” if you chose to go the “dark” path) and I kinda liked his voice. I liked the Shadow game, felt it had some good gimmicks, (like the alternate story paths) my only real problem was, the game just didn’t feel like it was finished being made…  
When I first played it I was a li’l annoyed, and occasionally would homing attack myself over the edge of the level, so at first I didn’t like it, but the more I played, and progressed, the more I started to enjoy the game.
 
That’s kinda the best way to approach a Sonic game, take the bad with the good, and hope the “bad” doesn’t outweigh the good, and that the game could still be enjoyable. (But seriously, Sega really needs better bug-testing teams.)
 
I haven’t played “Colors,” or the newer games, but I admit I think Roger Craig Smith is a good Sonic voice. (Even voicing him in the “Wreck-it Ralph” cameo, and in SSB4.)  
I haven’t played “Unleashed” either, but the “Warehog” gimmick doesn’t bother me that much, and I kinda like how the stretchy arms are a nod to “Ristar.” (Seriously, Sega, make a new sequel of “Ristar.”)
 
I’ll take that as a compliment. :P  
Sometimes I fear I “defend” or discuss the series to much on the site, so I worry about people seeing me as a “Sonic fanboy,” or something. (Some on this site have given me crap for being a “Sonic fan.) I like to think overall, I’m pretty “neutral” with the series, as there are things I like, and dislike about the Sonic series, and it’s games. So I don’t blindly love everything about it, but I don’t blindly hate every new game either. (Like some fans.)  
As I said I’m not as big a Sonic fan as I used to be either, (as I said I haven’t caught up on the games yet) but I still have a soft-spot for the blue-blur. (Even though I prefer Mario.)

Of course.Fandoms are like kids.You’ll love most of the time,but then there are those times when they start to get on your nerves because of how they’re acting.
 
Like I said,I know that the Sonic Fanbase as a whole isn’t bad,but I do really wonder why is that some of the smallest changes can cause the biggest reactions from some of them.Genwunners in other fandoms make more sense then the Sonic Genwunners.
 
Heroes wasn’t bad to me,but having to do the same levels over and over with really the only changes being length and difficulty(And in Chaotix’s case,objectives) is not fun to me.Shadow,I want to find it to be so bad its good,but the plot is attrocious,Black doom is not only one of the worst game Sonic characters,but one of the worst villains in fiction I’ve seen,and the morality idea is interesting,but it was executed horridly.Having to do that same stage at the beginning over and over again is not fun at all.Maybe some polish could’ve helped on the gameplay,but I doubt anything else.
 
I only rented Colors for awhile back when it was out.Pretty good game,love the voice actors they got(Roger Craig Smith is my favorite voice of Sonic next to Jaleel White),and the humor was good.Unleashed,at least for the PS2 wasn’t bad but not great.I didn’t really care for the PS2’s Speed stages that much but I actually kinda liked the Werehog stages,but the platforming in them were tedious and bad.The worst part was when the game’s exposition fairy,Chip,stops the game in a unskipable tutorial message to tell you what to do.That got annoying fast.
 
You kinda are,really.Since you know the games and Archie’s comics very well as well as not really hate the series,you kinda do come off as a Sonic expert(not that theirs anything wrong with that).

Well, every fanbase has issues, even our brony fanbase isn’t a “utopia” (as much as sometimes we like to think it is) and we have some strange, and equally-nit-picky fans to.
 
I’ve known some cool Sonic fans, don’t get me wrong, and they agree that people like Richard Kuta, Nicochi, and Chris Chan are nuts. I mean some have understandable reasons for not liking the recent games, but those guys have odd reasons.
 
I like to think I have a more “neutral” position on the Sonic series/franchise, and fanbase. I don’t love every Sonic game, but I liked a few of the “hated” ones like “Heroes,” and the controversial “Shadow” game. (I just felt those games just needed a bit more polish.) I haven’t been keeping up with the series though, (I still haven’t even tried “Unleashed,” or “Colors” yet) nothing against it, I just haven’t been able to afford many new games lately. (Most of my recent games have been Virtual Console, or something as a result.)  
So I’m not as huge a Sonic fan as I used to be either, but I still have a fondness for the blue-blur, and I feel he gets alot of undeserved hatred from gamers sometimes.
 
Yet, funny thing is, due to my knowledge of the series (especially the official comic canon) I’ve kinda gotten a reputation as “Derpibooru’s Sonic expert.” lol (Or at least, that’s what one person called me.)

I still don’t understand fans losing it over such a minor and insignifigant thing like eye color change(than again,just yesterday I saw some people on tumblr losing their shit over a AU post for Star Vs The Forces of Evil where everything’s the same but Marco’s eyes are like his mother’s.Some how that got all kinds of rustled jimmies).
 
I stance on the blue hedgehog is strange to me.I don’t hate everything about him,I’m not a huge fan of him,but I also don’t have amibivelence towards him.I enjoy some of the older games,I still love SA 1 despite its flaws(Though I’ve grown to dislike SA 2 for being not that good),I didn’t enjoy most of the mid-2000’s games like Heroes and Shadow,but I did enjoy Colors and loved Generations despite being pretty flawed too,and I do enjoy Boom’s tv show(though the the Wii U game looks horrendous).I was a big Sonic fan back when I was little,but not so much no.That’s not to say I had the games,but I’m certainly not into it as much as I was as a kid.
 
God,the more you talk about the guy,the more I grow to hate em.I know that not all of the Sonic fanbase is bad as it would be pretty hypocritical coming from a Brony and besides you I know about good sonic fans like SomeCallMeJohnny,but there are just a lot of times where when I hear about some of the shit they do some times and it just baffles me.I really wonder what the hell is with some Sonic fans sometimes.

Yeah, in fact Nicochi & his buddy Richard Kuta pretty much started that “anti-green eyes” drama in the Sonic fandom… (They both even have their own E.D. articles.)
 
Speaking as a Sonic fan myself, I kinda like the green eyes.  
I’m not going to lie, I like the old Sonic games, and stuff to, but I like some of the newer stuff, as well. (In fact, I kinda like the new “Sonic Boom” TV series, as it has some funny parts.) I love nostalgia, and I admit some Sonic games are “hit or miss,” but I try not to let nostalgia “blind” me to much.
 
Also, Nicochi even banned a friend of mine from his DA page, just ‘cause he said he thinks we should wait until after Sonic4:EP.1 comes out before criticizing it. Apparently, them’s “fighting words” to Nic…  
Also, to show how big his ego was, Nicochi changed his DA name to “EpicKnightofJustice,” and referred to himself as the “true Sonic fan,” or something. (Even though, he pretty much automatically hates everything Sonic-related that came out after 1994…) I don’t know if that’s sad, or hilarious.

I don’t know, I’ve seen a few pics casting Scootaloo in the “Tails” role before. >>171783 >>331273 Though, surprised it’s not done more often. (I guess ‘cause of some of the “Sonic drama” on this site, as Sonic is a “touchy” subject for some people here.)

Yeah, I think I remember Nicochi bashing FiM before for not looking like the old show…  
Also true, he has double-standards… I remember he bashed Sonic 4 for looking “to 3D,” and yet he loves “New Super Mario Wii,” and never criticized the 3D models used for it, and such. (He was never as critical of Mario/Nintendo games as he was Sonic, and other things, or reboots.)  
He also liked the newer 8-bit-style Megaman games, and didn’t criticize how they left out the useful “slide” move, and such. Yet, he nit-picked, and bitched about very minor/subtle thing in Sonic like the palm trees in Sonic 4 for not looking like the ones in Sonic 1… (Seriously, he complained if a pixel was out of place, and this was before the S4 game even came out.)  
He also weeped for joy when “classic” Sonic returned in “Sonic Generations,” yet continued to demonize the game, (before it came out) because the “green-eyed monster” was also in the game to.
 
He also banned somebody from his DA page for disagreeing with him that Sheik (from “Ocarina of Time”) was a woman, ’cause Nicochi had a crush on “her.” (Nicochi was notorious for blocking ANYONE who disagreed with him in the slightest way. His ego was what made him so notorious.)

Funnily enough, I think Twilight fits the modern interpretation of Tails {Though Scootaloo is perfect for the older games}, mainly in personality. Like her being the really smart one who confuses everyone with technobabble {Like in Hurricane Fluttershy}, as well as being pretty snarky.

Also, the fandom already says Rainbow is like Sonic, but I don’t really see enough artwork casting Scoots as Tails. I mean it’s so perfect. Both are small and orange, and look up to an older, faster blue character. I’d really like to see a romhack of Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 & Knuckles that replaces the sprites with ponies. And I guess AJ would be Knuckles (since the fandom seems to like putting her as Knux.)

Speaking of Nicochi, apparently his nostalgia blindness doesn’t just apply to Sonic either. I saw him complain about modern Transformers being “Ugly”, and he also refused to watch FIM since he thought the designs were terrible {He’s a G1 pony fan though}. This was back when he and Kuta had DA accounts, so you probably won’t see any evidence of this. Strangely though, this nostalgia blindness never applied to any of Nintendo’s stuff…….
