Try for… what? Are you presuming I’m trying to spark flutterhate? She’s my second favorite. Pinkie Pie doesn’t get to pull off the comedic straight-man role very often, but the way she just deadpan slides the candy off the counter is hilarious.

I’m not gonna argue about it because stating anything about this episode that isn’t 100% blind praise no matter how much you say you like it turns people into complete assholes.

If you want to read points I made earlier then here but I’m done discussing it. >>984875

Fluttershy never grew out of her fears. She overcame them to help
her friends when theyre in danger, but she’s still fear them.
Being assertive doesnt mean she has to be less scared of things. She even used her assertiveness to avoid things she scared.

@Pagan
Point is, she don’t like it.

I see, and yeah Fluttershy being OVERLY scared of crap is really old, because she grew out of those fears. I mean she was assertive many times after “Putting Your Hoof Down” and shown not to be to afraid of things. It seem this episode wanted to start back when she crapped herself over her shadow.

>”Personally for me, I found Fluttershy’s performance to be pretty cringy.”

I have to agree with you I absolutely loved this episode but the part with fluttershy being scared of absolutely everything to the point of insanity made me audibly groan.

Yeah the ending was a bit odd like why couldn’t she just meet up with them at the beginning of each nightmare night and try to get more used to it each time and then when she feels she’s had enough she goes home.

I get the moral was saying don’t force your friends to do things they aren’t comfortable with but it kinda goes against her BABY STEPS lesson and if it helps her not be an anti social shut in who could have panic attacks from the idea of candy alone then it seems to me taking her out of her comfort zone a little bit each time would be beneficial.

Personally for me, I found Fluttershy’s performance to be pretty cringy. As in she was being that awkward friend that always holds your group back, and you can’t really do anything about it. (which was obviously the intention, and it really hit the nail on the head)

However, I’d have been okay with that if she didn’t move back to square one with the ending and decide to leave Nightmare Night for good because she didn’t like seeing her friends scared for their life. Instead of realizing that she just went too far with her efforts and could opt to tone it down into something more fitting for her that benefits everyone, like she has in every other “coming out of your shell” episode she’s had in the past. It just felt against the grain and generally odd. The episode would have been perfect otherwise.

Very few of the references they make are things like the grumpy cat cutie mark thing, most of them are shit like the one guy in the maze as Jason, snips and snails as Skeletor/He-Man, etc. Pop cultural icons that have stood the test of time.

I do think that it did get a teeny bit overboard with the references, but that’s only a minor complaint in my opinion. For me, I prefer when the pop culture references are something kids can get as well as adults.

Regardless, still a fantastic episode. :)
