For being a popular boy band from South Korea with trap sounds, BTS is a pretty interesting group to listen to and study. One of the most peculiar artists I’ve checked in a while.

New Wristmeetrazor has me going hard
One of the best tracks ive heard from all of this new wave of early 2000s style Hardcore. Was really into the two EPs they dropped last year and im fucking glad that theyre getting a full length out on Prosthetic Records.

TFW I’m really getting into a ’70s music artist only to discover that he was a scientologist.

He’s not someone I’d consider a music artist, unless you count that time he sang on Grease. Oh, and that botched attempt at an actual music career in the ’70s.

Jimmie Spheeris.
THIS MOTHERFYAYKER RIGHT HERE.
His debut album, Isle of View, is probably one of the most… ‘70s albums of the ‘70s. The music is so beautiful, so well-orchestrated, not to mention that the dude plays like every instrument on the album.
Then I look at the lyrics and I’m just like, “This is so deep, so mystical, what does this all mean?”
It turns out it’s ALIENS.
“Well… syayt.”

Never heard of him. He looks like a member of Steely Dan.

Oh, hold on. I just did a bit more reading up on him, and apparently it gets deeper.
Spheeris released his first album in 1971, and then followed the every-other-year release schedule, eventually releasing his fourth album in 1976. After that, he didn’t record another album until 1984. I’m assuming this is when he converted to Scientology.
But get this: Before he could release his fifth album in 1984, he died in a mysterious motorcycle accident whose circumstances are still not entirely known. And then that album wasn’t released until 2000.
Weird. O_o
@Mildgyth
Man, what was ‘70s music’s fascination with aliens, anyway? Between this, “Come Sail Away,” and basically the entire Ziggy Stardust album…

God do I love The Eagles, great rock band from the 70’s. Props to Don Henley for his talent in drumming and singing.

On 70s bands Suicide (R.I.P. Alan Vega) and The Pop Group never got the recognition they deserved.

Id say 99.9% of New Wave is overrated. There were a lot of more interesting and experimental Post-Punk bands that didnt get much attention in the face of the much more Poppy and Synthpop forms of New Wave. New Wave was like one of the biggest things of the 80s and has a lot of critical respect nowadays I dunno how all that much of it could count as underrated.

I guess it’s because most people I know seem to treat it like a novelty or something. Like they seem to see it as the disco of the 80s or something. The only songs they admit to liking are ones they seem to enjoy as a guilty pleasure or with some ironic appeal or something. Stuff like “Safety Dance” or “Land Down Under.” Or just the really ridiculously popular songs like “Shout” or “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”
Then again most people I talk to about music irl are either only into classic rock or only into metal or something. I dunno, a common sentiment among a lot of my friends and family members seems to be that the 80s was the worst decade for music and that most of it hasn’t aged well.

I can defiantly say that the 80’s isn’t one of the worst decades in music. As for the synthpop New Wave, there are two categories: the silly, novelty stuff like Pop Muzik and Video Killed The Radio Star, or the mainstream, polished stuff like The Cars and Duran Duran. I’ve seen critics gravitate more towards the latter than the former. So I wouldn’t say it’s that underrated unless you’re talking about the post-punk style like what he said.
@MoogSourceVermona
The cheesy, poppy stuff can also be interesting if you’re in the mood to turn off your brain. Not everything that was influential has the seal of quality, same goes for the songs and bands that made it big.

I can understand that.
As much as I enjoy songs with deep meanings and powerful messages as much as the next person, I like to balance it out with dumb, mindless songs of any genre in case I’m in the mood to turn off my brain.
