During the retreat form the Gallipoli Campaign, the ANZAC forces were able to make a successful retreat by making the Ottomans fire at dummy soldier’s as they used a pressure system using water canteens to fire their rifles, distracting the Ottomans while they escaped (how it worked, was that one canteen had a small hole in it, with the water dripping itno the empty canteen at the bottom. Once the bottom canteen had enough water, the weight of it would pull the trigger of the rifle it was tied to. Due to each canteen setting off the rifle with varying amounts of water, this provided the effect of simulating random rifle fire)
