A few people are giving me drawing tips. Proportions are off I guess they are saying.

It’s pretty raunchy. Human female and Celestia getting it on. I wanted to commission one of a particular two possible people to do the idea but when nobody replied I tried it myself. Bad idea lol.

Down votes already in the negative double digits.

Links to the picture? Can’t really give a critique without seeing it.

And yeah, the first time I tried that kinda thing it bombed. Hard. A buncha times. Still fail at it from time to time XD.

But I’ve been getting better, so just keep at it (and getting advice/doing studies/etc) and so will you.

@ArkyNoid
Honestly? they’re not that bad. It’s obvious you’re new to this, and that’s fine. But yeah, expect haters/downvoters/etc.

a hah, I would say this is a lot better than my first NSFW drawings back in 2009/2010. You already know how to draw butts the right shape. Good start!

Main advice is, use references but try not to trace over it, just observe the figure for shapes, and just how everything curves. From looking at the picture, it looks like you kinda tried to go all in one go the rudimentary shape of the pony. You need to divide it into parts, shapes like I said. There are plenty of (very simple) guides and anatomy sheets to look that stuff up.

I’m still a novice myself, but I’ve improved greatly by just keep doing it. Don’t worry if it looks bad, just strive to have fun and do new things, observe what you could have done better, and repeat.

I’m sure Grieffon will see this eventually, he usually links all the helpful beginner stuff for Ponies. (of which I still need to look at myself, I don’t pony much :P)

Your welcome, I doubt it’s that great of advice, but I’m happy it helped :P

And about the resources thing, best bet, just check the stickied thread! That stuff helps.

Whoa yeezus one of them is down to the negative fifties in votes. It’s shifting from that mischievous “oops I’m bad let me work on improving” to “holy fock what have I done”

Thanks to all who have been supportive of my ambition to improve nevertheless. <3

Yo, i’ll try and be helpful by linking some human anatomy references.
Male anatomy (most of this applies to females, just add boobs/get rid of dongs/emphasize hips etc):
http://fav.me/d7gozuz

Hip and Vagina tutorials by Doxy, a porn artist. There was a cum one too…but I can’t find it right now.

http://fav.me/d7mneer

A bunch of female anatomy tips from robatto:
http://fav.me/d4ri4x5

And of course you can always study by drawing from stock photos of actual people(which is probably a good start).

Of course, that stuff won’t specifically help you in drawing ponies (I learned that the hard way- see some of my most downvoted uploads and you’ll see what I mean).
But learning to draw people will help you get a sense of shapes and space which will probably make you better at drawing in general, and you can always look up pony-specific tutorials or images to reference (actual horses look only vaguely like the mlp kind though).

So, yeah. look at tutorials, use references for things you’ve never drawn before, have fun, and be patient.

OK, I started about 9 months ago, and my first ones were terrible. Yours are pretty terrible too, but in a different way. I never actually got the downvotes galore tag. But you’re not doomed to be horrible forever.

What was said above about references is the best advice possible. Try to copy (not trace) a lot of different poses first. I’d suggest you do a whole lot of them just in black and white, because it’s much quicker that way. Don’t waste a bunch of time coloring something that’s not very good. When you get to the point that you think you’ve actually got to be good at drawing in black and white, count how many pictures you drew already, and draw that many more. (Seriously. You’ll keep improving, and you’ll look back and think to yourself that the one you did when you thought you were ready was really not that good.) Then start to do coloring on the best ones.

But don’t stop uploading them. You might get useful feedback. But if somebody’s being abusive to you, report them whether it bothers you or not. If they’re being abusive to you, they’re probably doing it to someone else, too, and the report will help the mods to weed out that kind of crap.

They’re not that bad, especially for a new artist. Mostly what the other folks already said, but I’d suggest starting with simpler drawings too; two characters, and a background, in a multi-panel comic, is a lot to jump into with both feet. A simpler drawing of Celestia offering her bits to the viewer would be easier, so you could relax into it and take your time with the details much more smoothly. Look at Raithial’s wonderful tutorial on drawing Amira: >>613143 because she’s shaped somewhat like Celestia. Ponies are filled with 3D shapes that ultimately hide under the skin. They’re not just outlines of pony shapes. The outline surrounds the innards, so it can help a lot to map out the inside shapes before putting an outline around them. Then erase the innards and color.

Lastly, there’s no harm in tracing the work of better artists until you get a feel for what they did and why. First, you may not even wind up posting them; they’re just for practice. Don’t try to copy them, try to fill them back in with the shapes that made the outlines you’re tracing over. Get a feel for what’s inside them. But even if they do wind up good enough to post, just acknowledge that you’ve done it and give proper credit. “I thought your picture was wonderful so I traced it to try to learn from it” is not an insult.

Hey thanks. :)

Thankfully my latest drawing of her majesty’s beautiful sun plot was much better recieved. Using illustrator and being vigilant with symmetry and calculated shading seems to be helping me.

Now I’m working on a busty anthro Luna.

That was objectively horrible xD

Yeah, I think if you draw p0rn you gotta have some skill first because if people aren’t p0rn fans then you make bad look even worse, and if they are, then you’re killing their boners and that’s not something they gonna appreciate.

If the first nsfw pony thing I drew were to get uploaded here it would surely get downvotes galore twice over

it was quite…bony, and I’m not even into that

I would have been capable of making something less terrible when I made it, but it wasn’t exactly a focused attempt, and I didn’t know anything about the specifics in execution of making porn as opposed to parody paintings

got two or three more years (very unfocused years, so maybe it would be better to go by painting count: 200 or so so 30min to 10hr paintings, mostly under 2 hrs each, plus a boatload of experimentation) of experience painting before I really tried again

Also, this:

@bigmacintosh2000
Don’t waste a bunch of time coloring something that’s not very good.

Until you can consistently draw a decent original pose, maybe start out with a big page of gestures/poses?

maybe choose the best one out of the batch to practice lines/coloring/whatever on, or maybe not, whatever

running terrible drawings through illustrator one by one is a really expensive way of iterating through those terrible drawings

if you want to get good at base drawings fast, you need to iterate faster than that, figure out what works and what doesn’t en masse – I’m thinking on the order of two minutes a pose (if that’s too fast then maybe five or ten)

I’ve probably sketched ten things to every thing I’ve painted.

And before that I started out drawing from life and copying photos to graphite and that’s how I got my foundational can-draw-anything-I-see skills, before gesture drawings, before original poses from imagination, before paintings, and a helluva long time before porn*.

*not to say ‘draw porn on the internet’ is any kind of paragon to strive for; a lot of people who work in the art industry see it as substantially easier to do “good enough” than what they do, and also lower status
