I saw some people around different places asking if they needed to watch the original He-Man to understand Revelation. Mostly they got the rightful answer of no. Not being familiar at all with the original probably makes it better.
I was kinda surprised though no one mentioned the
2002 show.
You don’t have yo be familiar with that either, but I think it’s a way better series for someone who’s curious about checking it out.
It’s got an origin for Adam becoming He-Man, Skeletor’s transformation from Keldor, the ancient origins of Grayskull as well as Snake Mountain. The characters are all well designed and have recognizably iconic looks. The voice cast is absolutely perfect and the animation, while stiff at times, holds up really well, put it next to any modern western action cartoon.
And here’s the best thing, it’s all up for free on youtube. No need for a Netflix subscription, expensive out of print dvds, no digging through sketchy cartoon archive sites.
Go watch it already.
Also, Battle Cat plush toy:
And next waves of Masterverse and Origins! Masterverse shifts focus from Revelation to a more varied roster, including Sun Man and Frosta!
For Origins, I wonder how Whiplash’s tail will be done, the original’s was soft rubber, and is usually deteriorated on vintage figures now. King Randor is a cool addition, his figure is hard to find these days. Maybe we’ll even get a Queen Marleena in the future! We had one in the classics line, so it’s not out of the question.
