In some ways “Lost Levels” even had gameplay improvements people don’t notice.
Like for instance, the game has more hidden 1up mushrooms, hidden items, and hidden coin rooms then the first, (to balance the difficulty) I’ve beaten it before with more then 20 lives left before. (Whie the original first SMBonly had usually 1 or 2 hiiden 1up mushrooms per world.)

@SuperDEF
Ever got to World 9 the “Fantasy World?” It looks cooler in the 8-bit version though. The All-Stars version just made it look like a normal water level.

I can’t say for certain. I only once managed to beat the game, hard to remember what the exact levels looked like. I did recall there being water levels and the next level after that was a some-what outdoor Castle structure with a earily boss fight with Bowser in a very narrow passageway and no lava. Unless you’re Power-uped on the previous level its nearly impossible to get by Bowser.

I’m going to try another attempt someday to beat “Lost Levels” on the 3DS, “Super Mario Bros. Deluxe” game.

Actually, there are 2 hidden power ups in World 8-4 of Lost Levels, so it’s possible to get fire power. It’s also possible to run under Bowser when he jumps.

Also, I hear the GBC DX version of it is harder, due to the smaller screen, and such.
SuperDEF

@Beau Skunky
I always had a feeling there will be at least a decent chance to beating these hard levels. Sometimes just trying to find those hidden blocks can be a pain.

Oh yeah, “SMB Deluxe” can be a bit fustrating with the zoomed in screen. It’s only particularly easy if you know all the level designs by heart. The camera scroll is pretty good and helpful as long as your not rushing through the levels too quickly.

Now that you got me thinking about it, I’m now remembering a certain level in Deluxe’s version of Lost Levels being almost impossible to beat due to the game no longer have the proper bounce function. I forgot which World and level it was, but its the one with a Warp Pipe that needs to be reach over a bottomless pit (or water) by bouncing off a Paratroopa. But as I said the bounce function was taken away in this game.
SuperDEF

According to Chapter 4 in “The Thousand Year Door”, Mario is unable to use the warp pipe leading to his next destination beacuse he doesn’t have anything with his name on it.

So, does that mean Mario doesn’t even owned an ID card? Or at least have his Mushroom Kingdom citizenship certificate? What if he gets on the wrong side of identity theft, getting framed once again over something he didn’t do?

What the heck happened to the Mario Wiki’s information for RPG enemies and bosses? For pretty much every RPG enemy and boss (Super Mario RPG, the Paper Mario series, and the Mario & Luigi series), nearly all of the stats in the infoboxes are gone except for usually HP and a couple other things, even though these infoboxes all used to have all the information in there. With Paper Jam, it’s understandable, since that game just came out, but these other pages had this information for years and it’s all just suddenly gone ever since they changed the format of most of these infoboxes.

Really? Huh, that’s unfortunate.

I mean, I guess SMWiki could sometimes be on the “verbose” side, but it wouldn’t make sense for the editors to just erase everything.

It’s possible that, due to the format of the info boxes changing, they’re going to be slowly putting all the information back in there, but it’s still really weird.

And of course, the page for the Megasmilax boss from Super Mario RPG has NEVER had ANY info box detailing its stats for reasons I will never understand…

After some careful consideration, I have changed my ranking for the Mario & Luigi series. My final ranking is:

  1. Dream Team
  2. Bowser’s Inside Story
  3. Paper Jam
  4. Superstar Saga
  5. Partners in Time

Anyone remember Super Princess Peach? That game was fun, if a little on the easy side. You finally got to play as Princess Peach and rescue the Mario Bros. for a change. …Aaaaaaaand the primary game mechanic centers around violent mood swings. Whoops.

@Jarkes
Makes me wonder why the devs didn’t finished Perry’s story. Maybe they attempted to do so in the sequel, but that never happened because…well, a lot of people got vocal and antsy with the emotion powers.

Never played it, but I’d like to give it a shot if it ever comes to VC. Though, didn’t the pseudo feminists have a cow over the game, because of the mood/emotion ability gimmick? (Which made some gamers nickname the game “Super PMS Peach.”) So it might not get a VC release for being a li’l un-P.C.

Ironically, people miss the fact all the game’s levels, enemies, story, and such are based on the emotions gimmick, so it’s not just subjected to Peach. Remember the sad, and angry goombas?
