Alright, explain something to me. What’s with the usage of “Mama” as the term for “Lover” in rock and roll?
 
Like, that’s one thing I never really understood, but that’s probably due to not having the cultural context of it all. Being born in 1996 has its drawbacks, LOL.

If I had to guess, it might be sort of like calling someone “baby” but meant for women who are, as they say, “a whole lotta woman” where a cutesier term of endearment wouldn’t fit her. not that using “baby” makes much sense either, but…

Now that I think of it, I’m guessing this may have come from the South. It sounds like a very southern thing, and given that rock has its roots in southern black America, it makes sense.

This may be the first time I’ve ever reacted to that fact with an indifferent “meh.”

Guys… Simulation Theory is such a drag.
 
You know how it pains me to say this, because I love Muse. I know a vast majority of their catalogue on guitar and keyboard, have mentioned them several times in my videos, dedicated an entire review to them, and before all is said and done I will probably make another video all about them.
 
But god, this one… This album isn’t even that bad to listen to, which honestly makes it worse because at least then, it would be interesting. I just finished listening to it, and aside from a few of the numerous singles they released beforehand (side note: the fact that over half the tracks were released as singles before the album was even out didn’t help matters), I barely even remember a damn thing about it.

Don’t be a snark. This is Muse we’re talking about here. Before this, even their worst album, Showbiz, was pretty great. At least its biggest sin was its sometimes wonky lyrics. But Simulation Theory was just… disappointing.

I’m not, I’m just saying it’s ultimately inevitable for a band to do this. Where after so long, they release an album that’s either okay, or doesn’t meet its expectations.

Death Metal is cool I stopped listening to Black Metal altogether recently and Doom is good when mixed with other stuff.

I just… thought Muse was beyond this. This whole middle-of-the-road, electropop BS that has been taking over the rock world. Hell, there’s so much electronics in the album that I’m half convinced that Chris and Dom didn’t even play on the album, which is criminal since they are both amazing musicians. I bet they’re bored off their asses whenever they have to play songs from this album live.
 
How can I describe Simulation Theory? It sounds like Muse took the worst elements of pop and the worst elements of modern rock and blended them together in an album. I’m pretty alone on this stance, but I dare say that rock’s big downfall has come about because of the genre’s recent heavy resistance to “pop” sensibilities, which include catchy melodies, simpler song structures, and big, killer hooks. But this album doesn’t have any of those, as I left the album not being able to remember any of the melodies or lyrics of the songs that were on it. Hell, on one of the songs, the beat basically drowned out Matt’s singing voice during the verses. Pretty bad…
