“When will we finally have to admit that we have a fundamental problem here in Europe to bring all parties together and to promote full, honest and enlightened integration?”
Now, as can be seen from my answer to phoenixacezero’s reply, we still have to ask ourselves (although we are here on a pony-loving site) as individual people the question: What is racism? Where does this come from? What is the reason for this and the various previous theses (outside Germany - because we have been deliberately avoiding this for decades, to the great suffering of society, which has also been able to develop violent parallel cultures) and how can this be reconciled with yourself and your everyday life at all?
Well, indirectly, I have a clear answer to this question, although it may now be very controversial. Unfortunately, I can only justify my statements by honest, but presumably regarded as left German sources so far. Although these are in line with public law. But I make an effort to remain as scientific as possible. Because, after the Second World War, we Europeans simply did not want to deal with the problems of racism.
France has not questioned the collaboration of the Vichy regime, nor has the Jewish question been questioned in nations allied with Nazi Germany, such as Hungary or Romania. Or the question of the gypsies (Sinti/Roma). Nor was it critically questioned why the US allowed only 115,000 Jews to enter before 1939 (due to anti-German suspicions, because they could be spies), or why 53% of the Americans surveyed found Jews to be different, and thought that they should be excluded. I don’t want to start here with the English or the French.
Since after 1945 we are subject to the general myth that the Allies alone are the good ones and the Germans alone are the bad ones (which they were in this context, and no, I do not want to embellish the regime of the National Socialists here), and with the Russian Communists already the next global enemy is clear, the question of systematic racism was concealed.
So if already after the Second World War, the war, in which, among other things, it is clearly about racism, the question of racism could not be clarified (or wanted to be clarified), how much we, the next generations, have to suffer from the question of why this is practically until the end of the Soviet Union, although in the meantime we have also experienced the problems of the Korean and Vietnam wars, was postponed.
Even after the Vietnam War, the intra-US-American question was postponed in the sense that economic and anti-communist issues were more important. It was not until the 1990s, in my opinion, that European racism began to be reconsidered. Here in Germany this was caused by the ignition of asylum homes. And, of course, the world was shocked at the extent of the Serb genocide in the wars of Yugoslavia. However, I do not think that this has changed anything. There was still the fact that racism exists only partially and can only be controlled.
Even after September 11th, a social attitude towards us (democratic West) developed against a religious-radical-motivated enemy, instead of asking ourselves whether fundamental questions are not really open here. We want to believe that our democratic values alone are enough to be able to draw a clear line where racism and fanaticism, and where we stand as “enlightened” people in Western democracies. But the exact opposite is true.
If we can learn from our enemies, then it is the weakness of our own democratic and secular systems to be able to integrate those people who are (yet) a minority, but who are and must be part of our everyday lives. A woman wearing a headscarf must be accepted and valued in today’s society. A girl who wears a headscarf but does not want to participate in sports and swimming must be an open point for discussion.
Here, too, I very clearly expect the Western Muslim community to be prepared to commit itself to Western, democratic and constitutionally well-defined goals. Without a Western Islam, but also without an understanding and reconciliation with Judaism, I cannot distinguish at best any European and/or Western coexistence. The ball is in the middle, so to speak, but nobody wants to play with it.
Because previous political generations are far too cowardly to tell the truth. The truth that hurts everyone, not just whites or blacks, but religions and all those who no longer have confidence in their respective governments. Don’t be so cowardly! And please do not take your own political agenda so seriously that you can no longer be willing to compromise. With this statement, I clearly distance myself from my own green political agenda. I have a lot to gain from pacifism. But letting our own soldiers die abroad, just because they don’t get proper military equipment, is a personal no-go to me.
For me, racism and political ideology belong in the same pot. Anyone who claims to belong only to a certain political group, but denies everyday or systematic racism, or denies that religious and anti-state resentment is part of everyday political life, is, in my opinion, deliberately ignoring the internal and external political fabrications. And “Buahaha, Socialism!” isn’t a concrete answer to why things are still so fucked up these days.
I’m sorry about this wall of text, but I think it had to be said once. I wonder anyway, who is willing to read this, or who just says: Oh, the DarkObsidian, who is probably just a stupid boomer anyway, and has no idea. Funny fact, I belong to the late generation X (1980). And sometimes I wonder if it is not up to us to have to mediate here between all the different parties right now. In the fight against social bubbles and total ignorance of the core points of the problems. Just because someone feels attacked again in their personal religious or political matter.
I would like to be able to express myself politically without reference to my generation or nationality. But it’s almost impossible these days. I have to live with this stigma, yet I allow myself a controversial opinion about the everyday shit, which is generalized in particular by ideologically indoctrinated people and media. And that even though Corona-chan wants to fuck us all.
Have fun with your personal devotion. Personally, I just think that political cowardice or conservative adherence to the status quo leads nowhere. Except for constant supersession mechanism.
