“Jesus” is actually derived from the Greek “Iesous”, which itself comes from the Hebrew “Yeshua” (a name that wasn’t actually uncommon in 1st century Judea, and which roughly translates to “savior”), the same root as for “Joshua”.

That might be due to the “us vs them” mentality some has, especially due to how often Christians have gone to war with each other due to different interpretations (we need the Simpsons Scotland meme with Christianity). People take any perceived (keyword here) attack on their belief as a personal attack.

For someone interested in history you seem to be very misinformed on the history of early Christianity(the Bible was formed organically by early Christian movements pre-Constantine, Paul while important wasn’t the only formator of canon and laws in the early church)
