My main problem with the policy change isn’t even censorship or intolerance or anything. Instead, it’s that it’s a concrete symbol of how easy it is to turn us into pawns in a game of social agendas. We’re allowing ourselves to be used by people who don’t even care who we are, except for how they can use us for a political advantage.

that’s a big “if” considering the anti-censorship is pretty consistently, well, anti-censorship, and would oppose that as well - it’s not like we’re asking for the staff to be populated with nazis here

To be fair, it’s the DNP that got the ball rolling in the first place. Now it’s just people on the other side trying to stop the ball from rolling. Either way, the administration has shown itself to be wishy-washy and unreliable so if people want to delete their art I don’t blame them. I agree it would be best if they waited for a proper statement before actually pushing the button, but I think people should really make their own judgement calls on this one.

Aponty not if we assume society to be properly educated and able to discern when bad actors are trying to shift the paradigm. Problem is it isn’t and that’s a very high bar that the republicans have actively eroded for the past 20 or so years because they know they do better when people are uneducated. Destroying the system for cheap political points. It’s what politicians on all sides do.
Anyways I’d say the real flaw in what Mittsies is saying is the tacit assumption that the populace is up to the task. They aren’t and we need to get them there in order to ever successfully implement true free speech. That takes work and time. But it leads to a society where good ideas need no advocates, and bad ideas will always be marginalized.
Or we could just be bigoted against the bigots, but then who decides where that ends and what justifies it? In any case that’s the easy way out society seems to be going with.

But almost nobody is intolerant, that’s the kicker. The few nazi picture are an infinite minority on this website. This website is filled with gay and lesbian shipping. The paradox here is that the large MAJORITY is shooting ITSELF in the foot because of the tiny minority, most of said minority not even featuring intolerance at all either.Again, if the rule was put in place, without the streisand effec,t I think 5/6 images top would’ve been blocked by the end of the year, its not like Aryanne art is that frequent.No and that was never in question.

Which makes me ask why were you here in the first place because a lot of that imagery is years old and been here the whole time and you didn’t have an issue. Probably because it is so utterly minor you had no clue it was even here.
This thread just makes me think of an elephant being scared by a mouse because of an ideology that is easily the most reviled in the world but apparently liking art or a character somehow means you support the ideology and not just that you like a picture or a character.

The Site is taking a neutral stance on pixels on a screen it is in no way the as taking a neutral stance on the actual actions of the Nazi because its an image.

You got what you want, but hey, it also resulted in the banning of nearly all political images and the erasing of possibly thousands if not hundreds of thousands of images from Derpibooru, not to mention setting a precedence for banning anything even remotely possibly controversial. Oh god, this whole situation is all one big mess. I beg the artists engaging in this DNP pledge to at least leave your prior work on this site alone. Punishing users for a staff decision is downright unreasonable, hundreds upon thousands of pieces of art could be lost permanently, or otherwise made so obscure that finding all the proper sources would be an archeological endeavors.
I also think this pro-censorship stance is downright dogmatic, censorship of anything to any degree is a road to hell paved with good intentions. Fighting authoritarianism cannot be done by becoming authoritarians ourselves.

Seriously, I’m begging everyone not to jump the gun on this one. There’s a large Q&A that’s going to be coming that you guys should at least wait to hear out before making this pledge. Get all the info first. You owe at least that much to the mod team and the community before axing yourself from it. It’s been stressed several times now that spreading and promoting hate is still not allowed. Everyone keeps ignoring this.
