If you censor something, you’ve left people with 1 option: Don’t look at it.
If you don’t censor it, you’ve given 2 options: Look at it, or don’t look at it.
The difference between having a single option and having multiple options means that we have the freedom to choose, which allows us to think for ourselves. We can examine both options, weigh the good and bad, and ultimately decide for ourselves what is best. When we have only a single option, that means someone has decided for us.
Even if you wholeheartedly agree with every decision that person makes for you, you are ultimately losing the ability to think for yourself. When you do not think for yourself, you never question anything around you. You never develop a sense of right or wrong, you never gain a sense of judgement, and you end up with no ability to discern.

It’s alright, we all have our moments. But on the real, I see flaws and I see reason within BOTH sides. I’m poking at people here because I don’t want anyone falling into the trap of “ME RIGHT YOU WRONG”. I’m probably not the best at it, but I hope someone is getting that from me.

I personally don’t think you have any real reason to worry about the people who stay. All rational people, who conveniently enough are the majority here, happen to hate both censorship and Nazis.
Although a small extension to Rule 0 specifically banning direct promotion of ideologies based around prejudice would probably be a sufficiently satisfactory outcome for either side of this. This phrasing probably isn’t vague enough to be abused, while staying pretty general.
Also neither side of this argument contains any Nazis, dammit. I’m damn sure about that, even though I have my doubts about the pro-censorship crowd.

I’ve had extremely mixed feelings through all of these developments, and I wish there was a cleaner, clearer resolution to all this. This thread leaves me incredibly worried about the state of derpibooru, though, if it’s a sign of the kind of people and rhetoric who will be left on the site.I don’t want to support censorship here, but there is absolutely a problem that needs addressing in some form or another. :/
