Keep your rope close-close,” it advises, handing him back his rope and grappling hook. “Can…can help…? Can help run Skaven off,” it almost begs. It looks up at him from its bent-down humble bow.

What happened here, to this dragon’s lair, and those three venturing this far into this land, this is only the very beginning of what’s to come. “Once you’ve helped me, the first thing we’ll need to do soon after is convince your kindred to leave the Imperium’s domain.”

He rises to his hunched position. “If pony mean it…Queek will be for pony. If pony lie like Skaven…” It pauses and looks away, thinking. It seems defeated, unable to threaten him, before looking back to Aramid. “You have Queek’s loyalty. Will try hardest for kin and pony.” It sheathes its sword in what almost looks like a dwarf-made scabbard before picking up a halberd off a dead stormvermin.

(I gotta get some rest, ppls. I’ve got a terrible headache across my brow atm and it’s driving me nauseous. ^_{>_<})

well, Aramid had probably earned himself a little slack with the shapeshifting supermage in charge… but he’d better bring home something meaningful if he wants the good graces to return.

Tired they may be due to the time of evening, but they may have their chance to sleep it off. Thankfully, Queek doesn’t talk much unless spoken to, so at least Aramid isn’t stuck to someone that doesn’t shut up. Maybe a bonus point for having good ears and a good sniffer? ‘Harold’ meanwhile rides on the knight’s shoulder like a good rat. The two are probably following routes Eshin rats might take.
 
Surely the gang, meanwhile, has set-out looking for their lost knight by now?

to say valor was displeased when he heard what had happened was an understatement. but he reasoned a knight would not abandon life debts and if he made it out thanks to the skaven he would have to make a concession there… didn’t mean he’d spare any raider rats they came across of course, but he’d oblige those that decide running away is a better plan.
 
he had also decided to come along, the day to day business had been in the hand of ministers anyways while the worldstone was not retrieved.

While in a quiet part of their route, the rat nudges the knight. “Loud noises bad-bad idea on surface?” The rat is likely asking him because he spends more time outside of a cave. He may also be asking because brain cells aren’t soooooper amazing when tired. It was late and they’d been travelling some time- the rat had been busy prior to the cave-in as well, but that’s not important.

Mayo walks alongside them, keeping a sword low but handy. “Are we to go in search of his rock, as well? He must not have it if he didn’t use it.”

“How does your kind travel for extended periods out here? Are there any hidden shelters for safe rest?”

“there’s no telling who or what picked it up, i can reverse summon it later when we have set up some securities.”

“Summon it in the dungeon- no, a locked-up gatehouse. Put enough people on the task and we’ll make sure nothing bad comes out of it.” It sounds like she’s willing to help.

“We go by cave-cave. Rat tunnels. Up top, we hide-hide. Some pony-things think we aren’t real. Want to keep it like that. Rooftops, alleys, bushes, trees…might have hidey-holes in places horse-things don’t go much. Queek maybe find lowly gutter runner hidey-hole. Easier to find. Death runners’ hard to find. Queek once found one under a tree with a badger.” That must have been fun. The skaven goes forth, sniffing and twitching about, either leading the way to or merely looking for one of these hidden dens.

“A nook fit for ‘gutter runners’ will suffice. What I hope is that more intrepid adventurers will pass by to scout on ahead of us, so we won’t have to run blindly into whatever dangers are ahead. I may be all the more determined now, but not foolhardy just yet.”

An apt question- she’d not talked quite that much prior.  
“No, sir,” she says, clamming back up for the most part. From her tone, she could be restless, or maybe a tad worried that they could be standing atop tunnels set to collapse. She could also just wish to prove herself to him for a decent position in the Empire. Hard to tell, especially when one can’t read her facial expressions. Not that any of these were important ^:/

The rat merely nods in understanding. It leads him to a large tower(or tree, or other tall structure), the skaven standing back and looking up at it, as if inspecting it. “Hmm…Queek thinks this is one, yes-yes?” Yet, the tower(?) looks ordinary, albeit tall and decrepit.

Peers through an opening into the derelict structure with a hand on one of his daggers. Slowly entering, he holds up the now truncated but still usable remnant of the candle he’d used back in the cave, slowly panning across the interior.

The skaven pokes the knight’s back between his wings. “What bird-horse is doing? Is want low-height or high-height?”

“I guess I’ll take a look into the upper floors…. You’ve ever found anything… hostile, roosting within these places?”
