So here’s an interesting little pistol - the Sistema M1927
It’s a license-built copy of the M1911A1 made by Argentina using original Colt tooling. They were produced from the late 1920s to the early 1960s, and since being imported to the U.S. market have become the closest thing to getting surplus-era M1911A1’s without paying exorbitant prices. Aside from the Argentine markings (which includes stamping identifying the caliber in a metric standard), they’re identical and have interchangeable components with US-made 1911A1s.
But what got me interested in them is their pop-culture connection:
In the manga and anime
Black Lagoon, a pair of these are the sidearms of choice for “Roberta” Rosarita Cisneros, “The Bloodhound of Florencia” (aka “terminator maid”). Like most of the action-oriented characters in the series, she did over the top and unrealistic fighting sequences, yet had a deep and compelling background story and character arc.
And here’s the kicker - the English voice actor for Roberta?
Why, none other than fashion horse herself, our very own Tabitha St. Germain!
