Okay, since it has been awhile since the last time that I posted a review - three weeks at this time - I thought that I’d reveal the next reviewer. It’s coming up soon. If you’re wondering if it’s the big secret thing I was planning; no, that kind of fell through. It sucks, but sometimes that happens. Ideas don’t always pan out. There’s not much you can do about that. When you’ve got a ton of ideas. Not all of them are going to work out. I don’t want to spoil exactly what that was, as I might be able to refine that idea later on.

Fame and Misfortune… yes, that one from Friendship is Magic season seven.

Like Legend of Korra, this is another thing that I debated long and hard about wanting to review. Even ignoring that it’s a little awkward going back to Friendship is Magic with a negative review after so long, I understand that this is another episode that’s… a little controversial within the community. As in, a lot of people really like it and a lot of people really don’t. I’m on the side that doesn’t like the episode, obviously.

I wanted to start the year off… simple, but I don’t think that I’m going to be able to get that. Ignoring the subject matter; this review ended up… longer than I was expecting. It’s one of them “longer than the episode itself” reviews, and it’s a 22 minute episode, so…

Now, I do want to explain my thought process about why I’m reviewing this episode in particular, but I don’t want to be… redundant. I mean, it’s not “teh wurst episode evar”; it’s not my least favorite episode of the show; or even my least favorite since I stopped reviewing Friendship is Magic. It’s one of those episodes where… I think that the type of flaws within the episode make a better review over the amount of flaws.

And to nip something in the bud right away, I don’t talk about Starlight (except for her context within the episode). I’m fairly ambivalent towards her as a character; as in I don’t think that I’ve seen enough of her episodes for me to really get a feel for her overall character. I have seen a few episodes with her. I liked The Cutie Map; I didn’t like The Cutie Re-Mark for not-Starlight reasons, etc. So if you’re worried about that, don’t be.
