Not that I really wanted to be in it. Starlight is actually a very deep character that spent most of her childhood & adolescence with no friends and a deep-rooted belief that relationships will just end in pain, and she’s only now coming out of her shell. I, as a person that lost friends a long time ago and am still having trouble making more, am seeing myself in her and I really really want to see more of her. I can relate to her a hell of a lot more than Twilight and I would not mind if Starlight replaced her as the high-powered unicorn of the group.
 
Besides… we need a new cast member that doesn’t technically outrank everyone in the country.

Well I guess time will tell…

I think the ending does imply that she goes back to the village. That final farewell shot where everypony looks at the audience was probably there for dramatic effect–they didn’t explicitly say that Glimmer will stay in Ponyville and be part of Element of Harmony + Spike.

I feel like people wouldn’t have bitched if they ended it with Starlight rejoining her village rather than the heavy handed implication of Starlight being the Mane 7th.
