I’m just saying up against Twilight, up close and personal might be the best tactic since all Twilight can do is magic, she can’t compete physically with the gems.  
So yeah, the gems can use ranged attacks, but I doubt they’ll do much against Twilight’s lazer beams

rushing one and overpowering through numbers is a valid and effective tactic though (even garnet succumbed to this tactic once enough watermelons ganged up on her).

Well, if we’re going by Rarity’s ability for control on gems, possibly, however, we don’t even know the extent of her magic, so it’s quite difficult to say. (and I thought she only has a spell for finding gems, not using them like in a fight?)  
Dash would also probably lose, she has no fighting skill/experience, she only has speed and flight. At best, it’ll be a while to take out  
Twilight is the only one, who might floor them completely, but the gems use physical attacks, and Twilight depends solely on magic, and that’s probably not good for up close and personal assaults. Pearl and Amethyst might lose, but Garnet would definitely be difficult

Well, it depends, really. Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie would all get their shit rocked, Rainbow Dash would stand a chance but probably lose for lack of skill, Rarity would gemhack them into submission, and Twilight would eke out a hard won victory…unless Garnet fused with the Crystal Heart and became Super Garnet. :3
