“Today, Twilight is taking a tour of the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator which is 175 metres underground beneath the city of Geneva in south west Switzerland and also extends beyond the border into eastern France. I certainly think Twilight would be very Interested in visiting a place that is regarded as sacred to a lot of today’s scientists who work in the field of physics.”
Apparently when they were going to run it for one of the first times, a bird dropped a bit of bread into a critical fans vent and caused them to abort.
Tell me more about the bird story
Well, I’ve reassured myself of this discovery now.
Science is just a tool to discover knowledge. If that scares you, then you might need to rethink your priorities. The only scientific field that should scare you is anything to do with self-replicating machines.
sighs It’s just…….science sometimes sares me. I was worried the first time I heard about this to tell you the truth.
Your comment doesn’t seem to relate to my comment in any way. I’m a bit confused by your thought process. Care to explain why you think I needed to be told we should be safe?
Plus, again, that’s having a laughably ignorant idea of how black holes work. In oversimplified terms, ‘creating a black hole’ that could do that would mean grabbing an entire goddamn STAR’S worth of matter and squishing it into a tiny ball. It’s not like “whoops, I poked a hole in space”.
We should be safe. No human being would be that moronic to make a black hole that would suck up the entire planet. That’s like the President stupidly pressing the nuke button.
That is the process by which said black holes evaporate, yes.
Unless…..Hawking radiation.
Yep.
Edited
Sorry. Just got excited there. What was I thinking?
No? I said it’s literally impossible with our current technology, or any technology we know how to make.
So we’re going to die?
I’m just confused on why you put impossible there at all, even in quotes. It just makes the sentence a bit confusing. With the addition of impossible with quotes, the intention of the comment becomes slightly more vague than I imagine you intended.
But yeah, it is literally impossible, as any black hole that humanity could ever create with any sized particle accelerator would be too weak to affect anything before evaporating.
So you’resaying it is?
I don’t know why you put impossible in quotes when it is impossible.
“Yes, but we’d rather not talk about that. Not after the incident a few years ago.”
My name is Wesley Weasel and I am the Fastest Weasel Alive. To the outside world I’m an ordinary scurrying weasel, but secretly with the help of my friends at CERN I fight animals and find other weasels like me.
I hunted down the weasel that killed my mother but in doing so I opened up our world to new threats, and I am the only one fast enough to stop them. I am #THE #WEASEL!
