What you see here is more “IRL-accurate” than “show-accurate”, because the show’s anatomy is simplified and in many cases just done plain out wrong. Quadrupeds are tricky creatures, but cartoon ponies do have a lot in common with humanoid and feline skeletal structures.
D’aww, you’re still so cute Ditzy (yes I know the fandom call her Derpy, but come on, the name Ditzy does work given she is clumsy at times and has a blonde mane, could be a nice nickname Derpy. Better than being called Muffins).

Along with what’s already been said, it’s occasionally horrifying to watch MLP if you know basic horse anatomy. Especially when you see them bend a joint the wrong way, or twirl a hoof around. But keep in mind, this IS Derpy :D, and that many headcanons hold the Pones of Equestria are made of marshmallow.
It’s not the answer, but the beginning of one, to the question of what a chair would look like if our knees bent the other way. ;)

I’ve loved the DerpDink fanon since discovering the fandom in mid-2011 (as well as variants such as them being sisters or Derpy just being a family friend Dinky looks up to), and I would be ecstatic if artists would produce content with Derpy and Crackle Pop.
RIP death by adorabetes
Like the fact that the ponies on the show actually have wrists.

That’s how horses are. The “second” joint is the equivalent of a human’s wrist.
So long as you don’t tell Derpy her legs aren’t supposed to bend that way, she’ll be okay.

Derpy: HMM. Well she’s still my little Dinky and I still want her to be happy regardless.
My Earth could use more mothers like you, Ms. Hooves. Equestria must be a truly great place.
That’s basically how I remember how to draw pony forelegs. Mantis pose!
Derpy is secretly a praying mantis. ;)
Horse legs are weird like that.
