We got a soup! soup!
From what i’ve seen, it looks like the writers prefer working with these characters as opposed to the Mane 6. I can’t blame them, their characters have been exhausted.

I hope they reboot MLP soon, it needs a fresh start.
DerpyFast
Pixel Perfection - Hot Pockets Spotted
Solar Supporter - Fought against the New Lunar Republic rebellion on the side of the Solar Deity (April Fools 2023).
Non-Fungible Trixie -
My Little Pony - 1992 Edition
Wallet After Summer Sale -
Friendship, Art, and Magic (2018) - Celebrated Derpibooru's six year anniversary with friends.

This wasn’t funny, nor was it true when people started doing it with Princess Twilight, three goddamned years ago. Nor will it be funny or true with whatever they do for the start of Season 8. The upcoming episodes are:

Twilight Episode
Pinkie and Maud episode
Fluttershy episode
Rarity and Sweetie Belle episode
Rainbow Dash and Family episode
Cutie Mark Crusaders and Big Mac episode

Anyone who genuinely believes that it’s become the “Starlight & Trixie Show” is delusional.

You find I refreshing because you like the characters. I don’t because the characters I like are being pushed into the corner. And of all the Mane 6 Twilight is my least favorite. The Mane 6 have a fucking ton of growth in them it’s just the writers gave them a conclusion already and don’t want to mess that up instead of pushing and continuing with these characters.

Mp surprise there. Twilight’s story was supposed to have ended in s3 finale. Ever since her alicornification they’ve been having trouble looking for ways to do things with Twilight that Hasbro can approve of. Trixie and Starlight aren’t are prilegded as Twilight and feel more genuine anyways. They have more growth potential than the mane 6 given the mane 6 already did a lot that in the first three seasons.

I find the dynamic between Starlight and Trixie refreshing to a show that’s been stagnating for a few seasons already. But at least now we have more characters for Twilight to interact with and make her feel less unusable or overpowered. Starlight and Trixie is exactly what was needed to make Twilight feel less plastic.

Here’s hoping they continue the pace with giving older characters and new ones ways to freshen up this mane 6 on mane 6 old trope. It’s good to be able to make fun of yourself and these two do well to poke that good natured fun at the show’s mane characters.

Because you don’t share the same bias, just saying. It’s a matter of point of view more than anything.

I don’t deny people are being hyperbolic, it’s the internet after all, but to me it shows a deep passion overall. The season 6 finale was rather serious you have to admit that, regardless of whether you took it so or not. The shoe is good when it’s doing comedy but then it tries to balance this with the dramatic of the premier and finales, it fails to do so because of the massive shift and because of the two tone difference I feel the Mane 6 aren’t given the proper treatment in the two parters because of how things were set up in the show overall. But like I said earlier it’s more a feeling that the writers care more about Starlight and Trixie over the Mane 6, that to the writers they aren’t important.

But I still think claims that she’s taken over the show are melodramatic when she doesn’t even appear in the majority of episodes. To be honest, I didn’t consider the S6 finale to be overly serious either, even with its relatively high stakes. Again I might be biased because I think this show is at its best when it’s comedic, but especially with season 7’s not terribly serious slice-of-life premiere, I think people are going way over the top with these concerns. If the mane six weren’t important, they wouldn’t still fill the vast majority of the show.

I disagree with the finale, as like you said it is rather disappointing to see your favorite characters get shoved aside especially since they’ve never really starred in one, only at best playing a support role for Twilight. The reason is that there is a difference between the more mundane (thought decent) Slice of life episodes and the more epic two parters. You have Rarity opening a shop and it’s a comedy. You have Rainbow joining the Wonderbolt and it’s played for laughs. Then you have Starlight go and stop the Changelings and it’s played of drama. There is a level of importance there that Starlight is being given that the Mane 6 aren’t as much. And like I said this it the first outing of the season, the first impression. The writers want to put their best foot forward and they choice Starlight and not the Mane 6. It gives an impression that Starlight is more important than the Mane 6.

These are newer main characters who have most of their growth still ahead of them, so they are important - at least as much as the CMC, and seeing Starlight save the world in that last finale was a huge change of pace from what we’ve seen before. While I don’t agree, I get why you would be disappointed that the ostensibly biggest episodes in scale don’t star your favourite characters, and I get why you’d be disappointed that the new season doesn’t begin with your favourite characters, but acting as if all of those other episodes which have nothing to do with Starlight don’t exist and don’t matter is melodramatic nonsense. This one wasn’t even a two-parter! Wait a week, will ya?

@Thrond
It’s the premier though. These are the episodes where they make a above and beyond effort to put thier best foot forward. These are the episodes where they show off what they think is important and we treat it as important. So to have these two be the biggest and most central characters of the premier suggests they are very important characters. Add on top of that that the Mane 6 are routinely kicked off to the side especially in the last four episodes suggests they aren’t important and that ticks people off because they came for the Mane 6, not these two characters
Thrond

I didn’t really like this episode much, but I too would certainly watch this.

Those thinking this is what the show’s become are being ridiculous though. Next several episodes don’t feature them at all.

One hand, I’d get to see Starlight.

On the other hand, I’d have to put up with fucking Trixie.

Not sure if want…
