@Background Pony #D36A
They released many other “Disney Afternoon” shows on DVD, (some are hard to find, or out of print now like the “Adventures of the Gummi Bears”) so I’m curious why a popular series like Aladdin isn’t on DVD yet.
Come to think of it, alot of their other movie adaptation shows aren’t on DVD either like “The Little Mermaid: The Series.” (I hate to admit it, but I liked that show too, as a kid. I miss the old “Toon Disney”) Maybe it’s because of the flack they got from the media & fans for usually “whoring out” their “cash cow franchises” too much, (like with their ill-received video sequels) and don’t want to “taint” the original movie’s legacy.
Or because the movies & their show adaptations are “too old” now for the modern generation of kids.
Or could be legal reasons with the actors, or something. (This is all speculation though, so don’t quote me on that.)
I dunno, companies have weird reasons sometimes.

I dunno, I kinda liked the live action “101 Dalmatians,” despite it’s “Home Alone” vibes. Glenn Close stole the show.
Wow, I almost forget about that TV show. According to the wiki the final episode of Aladdin aired on Nov 25, 1995.
Yes, it has been that long ago.
Disney really needs to put the entire TV series out on DVD soon or people are going to forget that the Aladdin TV series even existed.
Hopefully, Disney will put the TV series out on DVD for the show’s 25th year. It’s been 22 years already so hopefully in 3 more years we’ll finally see the whole TV series out on DVD.
If not, then Disney is gonna be in real deep trouble with their Aladdin fans.
i just realized this, the guy who plays kylo ren Adam Driver looks just like Mozenrath @Beau Skunky
considering that some of the same people that worked on GF that doesn’t surprise me, hell webby is just Mabel only without the sweater
@Dirty Bit
I saw it too, (the pilot 2-parter is on Disney XD’s official Youtube Channel now) it was very good.
My only criticism is none of the kid characters sound like kids.

I liked that reveal in one Mozenrath episode (I think it was this one with the pesky pixies) where his magic gauntlet came off for the first time revealing as a side effect of using it’s power, it reduced his entire arm to a still-moving/in-tact animated skeleton arm. As he put it, he literally gave up his right hand for power. He even states just using the magic gauntlet’s power is “painful.“
Pretty dark for a Disney show.
@Dirty Bit
I heard they intentionally made Abis Maul kinda like Jason’s Seinfeld character “George.”
Also, Homer Simpson was the Genie. (Sense Robin Williams would be too expensive for the series, plus at the time had a few issues with Disney.) Surprisingly, every other actor from the original movie reprised their roles. Though, Gilbert Gottfied (Iago) wasn’t difficult to get, as he has actually guest starred in many cartoons at the time. Plus, Iago the parrot is one of his favorite roles.
@Joshua
They actually considered using him in the finale movie (which became “Aladdin and the King of Thieves,” which surprisingly, was actually one of the few good Disney “straight to video sequels”) and they were going to reveal he, and Aladdin are brothers, (cue SW reference) but they decided to distance the movies from the TV series, for those that haven’t seen the series. (Regardless a few characters from the show cameo at the wedding.)
Funny thing is, originally “Return of Jafar” was not meant to be a sequel. It was originally the 3-part pilot for the TV show. (Hence why it introduced Abis Maul AKA the Aladdin version of George from “Seinfeld.”) Similar to how other Disney Afternoon shows started with multi-part episodes.
You can even tell, because it’s only 66 minutes long, (about as long as 3 episodes without commercials) and when the show aired on the Disney Channel (prior to syndication) the intro had clips from the “Return of Jafar.”

yeah that’s likely to happen, just like a good live action remake of a beloved Disney animated movie is likely to happen

@Beau Skunky
And Webby isn’t voiced by Kristen Schaal
Webby seems to be more tomboy-ish then her though.

I guess they wanted it to have a “Gravity Falls” vibe, or something.
I don’t mind the redesigns though. I like how Glomgold is kinda a fat bastard, and how Ma’ Beagle looks kinda like Ma’ Fratelli from “The Goonies.”
right? if your gonna have kids on a kids show make them sound like kids, how hard is that?
I saw it too, (the pilot 2-parter is on Disney XD’s official Youtube Channel now) it was very good.

Okay, I never knew that one. It makes so much sense now.
Speaking of Disney, I just finished the Ducktales Reboot, and it is as glorious as it is funny; a reboot done right, indeed.
He was also Megavolt in “Darkwing Duck,” which is why he sounded like Krusty the Clown.
Oh, I know about Dan Castellaneta playing the Genie. Especially when he went ‘D’oh!’ that one time XD
if you think that’s dark watch gargoyles, that show hat genocide.
Yeah, though it’s not actually canon now.

Mozenrath and Aladdin? Brothers? …That would explain why they sort of look similar to each other.

Oh yeah, I forgot XD
You mean, Jason Alaxander.
Wayne Knight was the elephant in “Tarzan,” and the guy who got devoured by that giant frilled-lizard in the original “Jurassic Park.”
@Beau Skunky
Heh, it’s funny because Abis Mal and George were both played by Wayne Knight.

we’ll never know also(if the show had gone father then 2 seasons) it was going to be reviled that Mozenrath was going to be Aladdin’s brother
