Gen 5 Pinkie Pie is no ordinary party pony any more, no, she has risen beyond! She has become the legend that non-partiers fear! She has become, the legendary super-partier!

True. That’s one of the reason why a lot of anime tends to make the character’s clothes more simple compared to their original manga counterparts. And given the TV budget, it probably would just take too much time, effort, and even money to use more detailed designs.

That’s a relief. I’m hoping she’ll be a Pegasus, even if they’ll have to sacrifice the more detailed markings.

I definately remember Lauren talking about the sugar rush mode that was going to be a running gag every episode. I’m glad they didn’t go with that idea since I feel that joke could have gotten old and obnoxious very quickly. But had they did it just once or sparingly, it could have honestly been funny.
I do like how Lopoddity kind of did something similar with her Pinkie Pie offspring. So it’s nice to see that some fans actually took that idea and ran with it a bit with their own characters. >>833214p (deleted)
As for the flying upside down, I really liked that about her old concept art too. It feels really fitting for her character to do something like that.

You have a pretty good point. Considering they want the big expressive eyes, more simplistic designs, and don’t want too much humanoid features or too much equine features, G5 could be considered a kind of new and polished version of G4 in terms of style. It’ll be cute and cartoony as opposed to the more horse like designs from G1 and G2.
All we know for now is that the production team likes big and expressive eyes, simplicity in the design’s language, little wings on pegasi’s legs and “playing” with things like mane styles and body shapes. We also know that they don’t like very skinny legs, furry hooves, exaggeratedly equine features, long/reptilianly snouts, too humanoid features (such as short, round muzzles and rounded cheeks), overly cartoony explorations and excessively detailed designs. Maybe knowing these things, we can try to trace how G5 is gonna be visually!
@mjangelvortex
She probably is still going to be a Pegasus in G5. I’m sure either Meghan or the higher-ups at Hasbro will convince the production team!
To be fair, the more complex you make a design and the more difficult it becomes to animate it and make it look good, so there were probably practical as well as aesthetic considerations in the decision.
Regardless, I do think there might be good potential with a pegasus Pinkie. Apparently, in her original concept she enjoyed flying upside down, just as a personal peculiarity.
And she would have turned into a pegasus hummingbird when she ate too much sugar.
Of all the race changes in the G5 leaks that happened, I think Pegasus Pinkie Pie might be my favorite. Mostly due to the whole fact she could have been one in G4 had things turned out differently.
I also really liked the piebald markings this specific G5 design for Pinkie had. But given how the staff didn’t like the more detailed markings or Pegasus Pinkie Pie, I doubt she’s going to look like this once G5 offically comes out. (Which I think is a shame but you can’t get everything you want, I guess.)

Plus it kind of fits how bouncy and playful she is. Imagine her just bouncing in the air or on clouds.
