Again, I never said that any personality is exclusive nor did I say there weren’t black people with “white” personalities, or vice versa. In-fact, this entire time I’ve been very carefully, commonly stating and wording everything I type to specifically say that anyone can have any personality, regardless of anything outside their brain. You’re either taking what I say out of context, or not reading it properly, therefor I’m afraid I will be dipping out of this discussion.

It’s not that skin tone never effects life circunstances, it certainly does, particularly in how a person is percieved by society. It’s more that a person of any skin tone can come from any background, which kinda makes the whole point moot. If you think there aren’t black people (or any other race) with personalities that you feel are “white”, or vice versa, than I honestly don’t know what to tell you. There is no personality that is exclusive to any race even if there are trends (particularly when viewing other cultures than just other skin tones, but still), ergo in a show that doesn’t define the race of its characters, any of them can be interpretted as any race.

Yeah, I agree actually. The initial comment isn’t very good; seems almost forceful. If I sound like I’m siding with them, then I assure you I am not.
 
It doesn’t change their personality, I never said that. What I did say was that it can change your life in small to big ways, (small being stuff like friends, and big being stuff like racial issues.) and those experiences can form personality. Not all the time; but there’s a reason stereotypes exist, and that’s because they can apply; even if what they apply to is the mass crowd, or a select few.
 
For clarification on my own viewpoint, hoping not to sound like a bigot; there is no difference to me personally. We’re all skin and bone, and your colour doesn’t change how I see you. I wish racial issues were a thing of the past, but unfortunately they still aren’t in some parts of the world or specific situations.

The context of the comment was simply trashing on someone’s headcanon just because the character wasn’t depicted as a skin tone they expected to be. No more, no less.

I’m sorry but that kind of sounds like plain old stereotyping to me. The amount of melanin a person has has nothing to do with their personality.

As in, the context both of their comments had. One specifically talked about human colours, while the other avoided all human colours to avoid addressing the comment.
 
And yes, some characters aren’t suited to being black or being white is a thing. Implying that your skin-tone does not affect your circumstances in life, be it racial, geographically, tone, friend group, etc, anything along those lines, is naive at best.

Starlight is worried about their daughter going out with White Lily (Pegasus)because she is worried that she might be a bad influence for her daughter, but Sunset is of a more open mind, since she thinks Lily isn’t that bad.

This is really cute! Curious about the context. Is it just typical parents being nervous about their daughter dating?

It’s not avoiding the context at all because there was no context. OP only said she’s not brown with zero indication why they feel that way. How is someone supposed to address the context when they’ve been given none? And personality is based on the circumstances of a person’s life, not the pigment of their skin. Saying a character is not suited to be black or white is ludicrous.

That’s a pretty big strawman; and intentionally avoiding the context of the comment. Some characters don’t really suit being black; same as some don’t suit being white. I have no hard feelings one way or the other with Sunset’s colour though; all I’m commenting about is your response.
