I saw this episode a few months ago from leaks. I waited for it to air before I can upload this. Firelight and Stellar Flare are awesome support characters for Starlight and Sunburst. The implications of them returning in future episodes would be interesting.
Food for thought: If Luna did nothing and let Celestia do everything for the day, so what? Celestia had been running things by herself for exactly one thousand consecutive years. Dealing with nightmares from within is a job that is very low stakes, to the point where one night slept through makes no difference.
The kicker: Whether the above is fair to say or not, Luna at least assumed Equestria only needed one princess when she became Nightmare Moon. If only she’d just have said that earlier so Celestia could reply that regardless of their roles, she needed her as a sister.
I’d think that her mum died shortly after giving birth and Firelight just could not cope with raising Starlight as a single father and that is what helped Starlight down the dark path.
Personally, I disagree because so far, any and all magic that alters marks has been fairly consistent. If you lose it, you lose your powers. If you gain someone else’s, you get theirs instead.
Considering how Starlight is the expert with this sort of magic and we as an audience have little information as to how magic works in the show, I give the benefit of the doubt to the person who has the greater knowledge and experience.

I think messing around with the powers of two ponies who control celestial bodies counts as something that could destroy the world, given all the potential ways something like that could have gone wrong. She got lucky in that ALL it did was cause an inconvenience.
Not really. They both had their powers, just the other one’s. Unless you think that mildly inconveniencing/annoying the two princesses for 24 hours (since the switch was on a time limit anyway) counts as “almost destroyed the world.”
I dunno, I’d say the whole ‘switching Celestia and Luna’s’ powers thing was a potential ‘twice.’
Yes. Only once.
Oh, okay thanks for clearing that up.
I never go anyway <:^)
Then the Great and Powerful Trixie shall punish you by never inviting you to any of her shows.
I do dare! <:^)
You dare to question Trixie?
“And imaginary”
You’ve seen what her relationship with Sunburst is like, right?
Also Great and Powerful

Orphan no. She was mentioned to be a latchkey child, aka a child who receives little adult supervision for certain parts of the day. Typically due to them being home while their parents are away at work. Hardly the same as being an orphan, but it can definitely have negative effects for someone who lost contact with their only friend.
