I don’t see much complaints on the lack of focus Shere Khan from The Jungle Book (1967) got, so why complain about the lack of focus the Storm King got?
Background Pony #8E3D
Funny thing you compared the Storm King to General Grievous. Because I thought I wasn’t the only one to have thought of the connection. Both are my favorite villains.

Also, I have a theory: if the Storm King was revived as a cyborg, he’d look like General Grievous.

Sludge at least wasn’t meant to come across as more than he did. He was meant to just be a lazy freeloader, whereas the Storm King was supposef to be an imposing evil overlord type and whatever your personal feelings on the character are, you can’t deny that a significant number of us felt he fell short.

I can understand that, but I just don’t see how that Grievous has gained such a reputation of fear when his usual strategy is to send his Droids in to weaken the enemy rather than take them on himself. He would send in Magnaguards to weaken one Jedi, while the 2003 Grievous would order his Droids to stand down while he went five to one. Plus whenever he loses a limb or two his first instinct is to retreat and order his Droids to attack instead of stepping his game up.

I guess it’s a matter of personal preference.

The other Grievous is just a typical, cowardly villain.

I prefer Combat Pragmatist
He can defeat pretty much everyone but the best Jedi Knights and even they have much trouble with him.
He also is willing to fight dirty and ruthlessly uses every advantage he can get.
If he realizes he is losing he has no problem to retreat before he gets killed and wait for another chance.
This and this are other examples.

But that’s what was so impressive about 2003 Grievous: even against Jedi Masters he was keeping up through sheer skill and ferocity. He only retreated when the odds were overwhelmingly against him (he only retreated when that LAAT gunship began opening fire on him). Even against a room of armed Clones and Senate guards he was able to outmaneuver them and cut them all down with little to no difficulty. Canon Grievous retreated all the time.

In my opinion, 2003 Grievous is far more impressive, intimidating and a more enjoyable rendition of the character. The other Grievous is just a typical, cowardly villain.

Oh and I tried that, but it never worked for some reason.

Killing a Jedi Knight IS impressive (even surviving against a Jedi is); especially if you can´t use the Force.
That was also just one example.

And to be honest I think that the Grievous of 2003 is ridiculously overpowered and might even be able to defeat Darth Sidious.

We can agree to disagree.

Wow, he managed to kill a lone Jedi Knight. How impressive. Meanwhile, the 2003 Grievous was taking on groups of Jedi masters with ruthless efficiency and skill.
