I beg to differ, the Wonderbolts need more machismo. So far they’ve been portrayed as pretty pathetic, to the point that I wonder why Rainbow Dash hasn’t just formed her own exhibition team.
 
Besides, she’s saved their lives and is a national hero and can perform a trick nopony else alive can, except maybe for one of the princesses. If they still don’t want her, they’ll never want her.
 
Although there’s a very simple explanation for this: Once she’s accepted, she’ll leave Ponyville, and no more Rainbow Dash. Status Quo is above God.

@Muffinshire Very much agree, Rainbow still has a ways to go in terms of learning to be a member of a team. Her time at the Academy definitely proves that she has the right stuff in terms of ability and attitude, but I’d say she still needs polishing. It’s only a matter of time.

I maintain that Rainbow Dash’s weakness is that she’s too cavalier to be on the Wonderbolts (at least with her current attitude). Yes, she has the physical abilities, but look at how often she charges into a situation without thinking, or trying to go it along without working as a team. For an aerobatics team, you have to work as a team, not as individual show-offs. She is improving though, as the show progresses - compare how she barrelled into the cave and kicked the dragon in the face in “Dragonshy” with how she handled the weather team in “Hurricane Fluttershy”. She’s still a little reckless, but less so as time passes.

How much more must Rainbow Dash prove herself? Is the sonic rainboom really is just a flashy effect from doing a quick sprint and nothing more? Is it a secret that she’s an Element, or just irrelevant? Does saving Spitfire’s life, and many others, mean nothing?
