I was cracking a joke about how Cadence and Shining Armor always seem to be taken prisoner in almost every season they’ve been in.

Recess was a classic I’ll admit. It was one of my Dad’s favorites before he passed. But that’s what that show was about being a kid in school though it seemed kinda like a POW camp with its own set of heirarchy. Kinda like Hogan’s Heroes.

The reason I think the comic is failing is because of all of the numerous spin-offs they keep putting out. I remember Archie Sonic Comics tried to a similar approach before the series folded and got picked up by IDW speaking of which the original cast is supposed to be making a return as well. But back to what I was getting at before; I very seldomly see new issues on display at my local comic shop any more unless its a compiled omnibus or a collection of a story ark. Usually I find them in those cardboard boxes along with other comics that most people don’t bother sifting through.

I have nothing against the comic series, but I do beleieve that Hasbro has IDW under a contract where they have to keep publishing a certain amount of issues or for a certain amount of years. Because IDW is simply a publishing house they don’t own any of the independent properties that they publish they just get their cut of the profits is all. That and I constantly hear a lot of negative things about the comics narrative. But I also remember how overly critical fans had first treated the comic as well so thats pretty much 50/50 at that point.

Again I’m just going off from what I’ve seen and heard so don’t take what I say as facts. Because I’ll admit that I’ve been wrong about stuff too due to misinformation .

Granted, Cadance did help Twilight fight off a giant worm, and such before, so she’s not completely helpless. (Also, if the comics were failing, they would’ve been cancelled years ago.)
Also, actually most characters introduced weren’t even from the toyline after Cadance & Armor, so I dunno about that “My Little Hostage” remark.

Saturday Morning cartoons have featured school in them. (Recess, Doug, ect. comes to mind.)

@Beau Skunky
I agree beleieve it or not. I’m all for having new characters introduced to a series, even if it’s for one or two episodes. But when you hype up a new character that’s going to be introduced as a part of the main cast, just to find that the character is pretty much helpless in almost every and any situation (I’m referring to Cadence’s character in case anyone else is wondering) it kinda left me feeling rather disapointed. I’ve said this before, it’s not that because I think she didn’t have potential quite the opposite in fact. But I did feel that the writers at that time simply had no idea on what to do with her. So they basically wrote her off as a Mary-Sue plot device. The same problem is seen in the comics as well, like in one issue she gets emotionally torn about a label and does nothing but mope throughout the entire issue only for Twilight to reassure that Cadence is a good princess because she’s nice. (no wonder the comics are failing).

My point is this; if a new character arrives on the scene? They should have their moment to shine even if it’s for one episode. Don’t pull some marketing ploy just to hype up the new toy line of My Little Hostage. It condemns the character as well as damages one’s brand. That’s my opinion anyway.

But back to other characters, I thought the sudent 6 were all right. Even if their own introduction came off as kinda janky (School of Freindship?) I mean, I know and understand that friendship what the show is ultimately about and all. But back when I was a kid? School was the absolute last thing onmy mind on Saturday mornings.

I dunno, maybe I’m just starting to become a crotchety old man at my age.

I seem to recall, new characters were also constantly introduced in the earlier seasons too. Heck, people had a cow over Season 2’s reveal that Twilight has a sibling. So that’s nothing new, and not every character needs to be super-developed to be interesting. (In fact, I kinda like them leaving some things up to the viewer’s/fan’s to interpret themselves.)

@Ironwolf
Eh, like any new show, I’m willing to give it a chance. Though I felt that current gen kinda fell apart in later seasons, mostly due to writer-burn out and the fact that Hasbro felt that they needed to keep introducing more and more characters with little to no character development towards the end. Don’t get me wrong, I felt that it was still watchable. It just felt like Hasbro just dumped a bunch of everything in the writers lap and the writers and the rest of the cast and crew were just eager to finish it so they could all move on to future projects that they would enjoy working on.

It’s why I felt the MLP movie was such a box office flop. The writers (under Mcarthy’s direction) basically followed the same old tropes as in are a lot of childrens movies all the while shoving a bunch of pop culture references in it in hopes that it would hold the audiences attention (kinda like what KP does in a lot of her vids.) Which did not help the movie at all. I’ve never seen it myself but I’ve gotten the gist of it over the last two years. I also felt that those who were doing their reveiw on it (not IGN because you cant trust a word that comes from their mouths) were trying to downplay what they really thought about the movie simply because they didn’t want to upset those who might’ve saw it and enjoyed it and risk losing subscribers to their channels. So basically the situation was like this everyone is holding a gun in a Mexican stand-off but nobody’s loaded and no one knows it.

Sorry I kinda went off on a tangent there.

@Ironwolf
Yeah… Don’t get me wrong. Not everyone on YouTube is an e-begging, attention seeking shill. It’s just that they seem to be much more easier to spot within this fandom. But thats only because they’re so vocal about it when any of them stop falling in with their bottom line. But not everyone else in this fandom thinks or acts like they do either. Which is probably the reason the majority of their channels are getting less and less veiws. Which is why they’re all hoping that G5 is going to make them relevant again, when in truth the majority of the fanbase either out-grew it (those who were 6 and up) while others quietly left because it was no longer trending. There’s nothing wrong with still being a fan of the show, but everyone sees the show differently. Which is a major factor most if not all the remaining analysists fail to understand.

@Ironwolf
The vids on Lilly’s channel you can determine for yourself, I very seldome watch Lilly’s content. Usually because she just goes on a tangent on about stuff that’s hardly relevant about the topic she’s discussing all the while skewing her veiws. But that’s how she wants to run her channel so I just look up something else to watch.

Just last week I think? I’m not trying to rally anyone up, I just thought the whole thing was a little bizarre. Maybe they’re actually cool with eachother? I dunno.

It’s one thing to spread awarness of mental disorders and people who suffer from P.T.S.D. But when you come out of the blue claiming you have said issues, it doesn’t look too good for someone whom already has a dying YouTube channel. I’m sorry, but I don’t buy it. YouTube has had a rather sordid history of e-beggars and shills in the past and if someone does suffer from these types of afflictions wouldn’t YouTube be the last place that person would want to be on? I say this mostly because wether people like it or not, you are always going to have those hateful types that will try to tear you down regardless of your situation. Which wouldn’t make YouTube a very good platform to begin with.

I’m not saying that the person shouldn’t or couldn’t enjoy content that people on YouTube provide. But when you put yourself out here on the Internet? You have to have some very thick skin to endure. But the video I saw (Lilly Orchid’s channel of all places) was about people who suffer from mental disorders and P.T.S.D. and KP herself was on as a “guest” talking about how she has all these different mental afflictions AND P.T.S.D. I never did watch the rest of the video only because I still see the rest of “them” as a dissapointment. But I just thought that was odd, like why was she coming forward about this now? And with Lily who’m last I checked despises the majority of the analysis group with a passion? I dunno, I just felt like she was just pandering for attention and stopped watching.

Maybe KP is telling the truth? But given the history of YouTubers in the past have been exposed for being dishonest it’s very hard to say in my opinion.

No problem, to be fair though this is all from hindsight. I am not claiming to be some type of criminal analyst. I’m not trying to attack his former friends or anyone who is associated with him.I’m merely speaking from both my own personal experiences with people in the past and what I have learned from watching a lot of true crime documentaries.

@Ironwolf
Nope, he claims that he turned himself in but the paperwork was filled out incomplete. Then he tried to worm his way back into the fandom through the use of a different avatar and that was created by his current “boyfriend” Isaac Collar but was soon found out and was chased out of the fandom again. Since then he has been trying to slide himself into other fandoms, the Sonic fandom being the most recent, all while trying to get his twitch channel off the ground and trying to get other people (most of them being in their teens) to believe that “has changed.” Claiming that he’s getting help by seeing a psychiatrist (probably so he can plead insanity when he does get caught).

The thing about all of is though, it’s always easier to speak from hindsight about what his “former freinds” should have done in the first place. But you have to keep in mind that these were the type of people that he’s drawn to. People that he felt that could elevate his social status. People that he could hide behind whenever he did something wrong. People that that he could manipulate in some way or form. He’s not really drawn to children. If that were the case the local police would’ve scooped his ass up from the local elementary school playground. He targeted that girl in the Philippines because he figured that she was easier to control and that she was the legal age of consent in her country.

The thing about sociopaths is they’re calculative. Once they get in trouble they immediately try to calculate how to get out of trouble.

The thing with Toonkrytic however, is that he only knows how to play the same hand over and over until he can get his hooks into someone.
chaotic-7

@Ironwolf
He’s still trying to worm his way into other fandoms, all the while trying to guilt people into feeling sorry for himself. Needless to say he hasn’t changed at all.

Basically, Toon was being perv’y, inappropriate, & creepy torwards underage fans, and got ostracized from the brony fanbase for being a creepy schmuck.

I think the same thing can be said about the rest of them in all honesty. I mean, they aren’t on the same scum factor as Toonkrytic, but they have been revealed to be somewhat dishonest in the past.

Horse News is honestly rather biased in many ways, but some people have had some bad experiences with her, most notably, a fan-animator whom worked on an animation project with her.

But overall, she’s not a saint, or the devil probably.
