Why? It is not like they are doing anything lewd on screen. There were also other canon couples in the show before like Big Mac and Sugarbelle or Maud and Mudbriar. With the later, Maud’s dialogue was eben kind of a G-rated version of dirty talk after Mudbriar got turned into stone.

I mean, I get it, it’s because that’s what the viewer understands, but still.
 
Well personally I headcanon that unicorns may choose to wear a ring on their horn.
 
Otherwise, I picture a much larger ring being worn around the foreleg, just above the hoof. :)

Headcanon: The apple critters random spoutings of affection coaxed both Lyra and Bonbon/Sweetie Drops to think the other was trying to drop hints about getting married, so they both got engagement rings with the idea to propose.
 
This would explain their non-plussed reaction in regards to the apple mayhem unfolding around them.
