Yeah. I agree with you on that.
I personally just leave it to people to choose which ever they wanted to happen to have happened in the years after the main show and such.
And though I do think Yonabar is cute too, I do think that they should’ve kept Yona and Little Strongheart as smaller ones of their species. Then they could’ve stayed cuter versions of themselves.
Honestly, I’m still up in the air as to whether not Sandbar and Yona are a canonical couple. They claim they are attending the Amity Ball as friends (despite some of their interactions in that episode suggesting there’s something more), yet in The Last Problem, they appear to be running Carousel Boutique together.
Regardless, I’ll still take Sandbar and Ocellus as a couple over what the show is giving us.

I’m just an old veteran of the Zutara Kataang shipping wars of Avatar the Last Airbender. And it was really dumb to see so many fans just give up on Zutara just because the pairing didn’t happen.
It’s just nice to see that people who don’t just stop liking a pairing just because it’s not “canon”.
