You’re entitled to your opinion. A lot of us are happy with it, though. The tweet hasn’t hurt anything for most people.
The whole point of a background event is to be a background event. They didn’t tweet when they referenced Bioshock and The Big Lebowski. It’s like an Easter Egg in games: developers don’t go tweeting about them.
Now, if it was audio commentary track, or “The Making Of”, then it’s fine to say it.
Confirming that it’s what it looked like only makes it better if you ask me. After all, it isn’t a joke. It’s representation that matters to a lot of people.
Just say to those kind of people it’s just a friendship rings which tied the two of them meaning friendship forever. Boom, done….end of story.
