Yes, a 25-year run of TV and 40 years worth of toys and merchandise of being the mediocre and stereotypical image of girl’s crap.
I’m talking about execution in context of quality, not sales numbers. I’m talking about the expectations of what many thought MLP was going to be from the very first episode, and how it turned out, JUST LIKE WHAT’S GOING ON RIGHT NOW.

Any concept can become great with skilled execution, because a concept is only an idea, while execution results in an actual thing.
In fact, the only thing that whiners are raging about is a concept, an idea that they believe will end in failure, but really has no basis until it is shown to the world.
That’s a gross oversimplification working off of a false dichotomy. The quality of an end result is a product of both the concept and execution. A bad enough idea will still be a bad idea even if executed by the most skilled of hands. A turd may be polished to a mirror finish, but it’s still a turd.
So now it’s come to this… you are insulting the MLP:FiM staff, the ones who brought us this wonderful series…

Those limits that had previously been written, which prevented her from simply solving every little problem with magic (we’ve had enough mind control spells to prove that even social problems can be “solved” with magic… EVEN ROMANCE, RIGHT CADANCE?!?!).
This isn’t a developing character any more than Superman is.

Also, is it just me, or is this inherently, moderately sexist? The four princesses are these powerful, “pure of heart” (still calling the morality on that “love spell” questionable AT BEST), ascendant alicorn beings.
The one prince is a stuck-up unicorn noble who got his title by birthright.

I dunno still, it’s just a theory. Besides, she had certain magical limitations set in Magic Duel that was said could be done only by alicorns or very powerful unicorns.
Its still one thing, just because we can’t think of anything else doesn’t mean the showrunners can’t.
She could be hopeless at flying or unable to fly all season and has to gradually learn it.
Rarity’s butterfly wings were a toy line. That didn’t stop them being integral to the story yet temporary.
